I think the animators also treated as both (or mostly as hair) so I believe it was a common interpretation.

Owl House was definitely my favorite of the three because of the character development and messages they conveyed. The ending was fantastic. Luz's last design and the animation in the final battle were exceptional.

Color changing Zartan looks phenomenal and is perfect. I would have figured they'd save that for a special release, but happy that's not the case. I hope they do it to Zaranna and Zandar too, but they didn't color change in the show.
