I can now walk up to Sassy and pet her, even without food. She likes to hang out in our bushes in front of the front porch, and she even meowed at me today when I left for work after lunch.

Aww, so sorry about Fade. Does your area have programs like Paws Watch that catch, neuter, and release for free?
Sorry, I thought I replied to this. Sadly not, we have a humane society that has a surprisingly good selection of dogs and cats, but nothing like that.

Last night, one of our cats - Simba - came into my den and suddenly collapsed and passed away...he was only about 1.5 years old.

He was such a nice cat. This was him a few months ago sleeping in my chair.

I miss him.

The family went on a beach trip without me this week, which means I get to take care of the chickens, cats, and the dog while they are gone. The older group of chickens are easy to handle as I pretty much just need to collect their eggs, but the dog might be harder to deal with. She is very untrained and spoiled. However, last night she managed to not eat anything that wasn't her food, so that is a step in the right direction.
