Didn't make me happy, but I am happy I did it and it's over.

I filed my taxes. Quebec owes me a penny.

Penny, its impossible to spend a penny these days in the UK, about the cheepest thing I know that you can buy is a plastic bag for 40p normally, a couple of years ago, you could buy those same type of bags for 10p

Well what made me happy a bit, was yesterday, but its something to look forward to, on Sunday, going for a meal with my parents and possibly my niece at a carvery, I not had a roast dinner since New Years day, just busy and not doing a lot on days off work, so its mostly quick and easy stuff, besides looking at a roast from the shelf in a supermarket, it just screams, very small and not very intersting, barely enough to fill me up, so I passed on it! What made me happy this evening, while at a local take away, got to be friends with a dog for a few moments while waiting for my food to be ready and it was happy to have some attention, rubbing itself against me, barking a bit, generally a happy dog!

Made boiled cookies again. Yes, I know the contemporary name is "no bake" but the looks people give me when I tell them I boiled some cookies is wonderful. The sprinkle of salt, actually remembering the vanilla, and a cup of rice krispies cut the sweetness very well and made it more robust.

Gonna need two or three more iterations to work out an appropriate amount of rice krispies to put in, then we can change the recipe in the book.

Three things making me happy today:
1. I finally have a Sunday off, which is extremely rare these days
2. Had a nice pub lunch at a Carvery
3. Catching up with the latest ep of One Piece which is a major fav of mine as its a great story and fun characters

Just finished cutting back the back lawn, first post winter cut, do the other side of the house next week as its not actively used these days and we barely pay any attention to it, plus it doesn't get a lot of sun as it faces north, thus the house shadow covers about half of it for most of the day!

So I actually hurt myself doing yard work today and am unable to move my arms very well. I had to stand in order to type for a while because my elbows wouldn't bend. I can move them now but it's like an alligator opening its jaws. No power.

Since there was no way I was going to be able to cook tonight, I had no choice but to revive my tradition of getting a Cuban sandwich on a Friday afternoon. Doctor's orders.

I was barely able to lift it to my face, but it was worth the effort. It is a perfect sandwich. It is absolute bliss. I have to get back to doing this every week.

So I was woken up to the power coming back on, and consequently turning on my pacman ghost lamp... at 5.30 am. Got up, turned off lights, went to the bathroom and such, and then proceeded to not sleep till I gave up at 6.30.

Get up, turn on computer... and discover my fancy ******* gaming mouse no longer works properly. Lights up, but the lights are wrong, and the mouse update is about once a second instead of milliseconds. Thankfully, I have a small bluetooth mouse/keyboard combo, so I can still... awkwardly... navigate menus and use the computer. And I start troubleshooting. While moving the wire to another port, I hit my head on the shelf above my desk.

And I did everything: uninstalled/reinstalled Ghub, removed the g502 drivers, restarted the computer. Three times through the process. Finally, managed to get it working properly when I did all that after moving the mouse to the powered hub on the desk instead of in the back of the computer. I managed to hit my head again putting the mouse wire back once it was working.

It's barely 8 am, I'm already having a miserable ******* day. I am trying to be positive, but failing pretty badly.

I received a rejection on a short story I had submitted to an anthology. Now, that might not sound like a reason to be happy, but they received over 1000 submissions for five open spots in the book, held my story for five months (plus two days, but who's counting?), and finally sent a personalized rejection note (rather than a copy/paste form rejection). On to the next one!

Biscuits and gravy casserole. First attempt at it. Since I didn't use the suggested breakfast sausage (and just used regular old ground pork instead.) it needed more spices. But the biscuits were awesome, and the whole thing was just wonderful.

Definitely making it again... with more spices, and less butter on the biscuits. They were butter SWIM, not butter DROWNED.

I love biscuits and gravy.

I know a barbecue place that does it right. I don't think they use breakfast sausage either, so that's okay. But they do use some kind of sausage. If it's the same stuff as their whole sausages just crumpled, it's beef, not pork. There's definitely beef drippings in the gravy. It gives the whole thing a warm tint, and so much flavor.
