Assassins creed Shadows and Skyrim got updates on Switch 2 improving performance and visuals.
TBH I never expected Switch 2 to be close to PS4, more the original Xbox One but that it's close to PS4 Pro and employs new techniques is great.

I ordered the cardboard version a couple days ago. I should have it in a week or so.

edit: This was in reply to the Virtual Boy. Sorry, Steamed. Didn't see your post in time.

Cookie Jar (the Canadian company that ended up with all the old DiC content that didn’t get returned to license holders) launched a Super Mario channel on the FAST streamers. I found it on Amazon, where they seem to be running the original Super Mario Bros Super Show, I saw Mario World on now, and I assume SM3 is in cycling as well. Might even see Legend of Zelda cycle in, if I had to guess.

Probably wanting to get them sweet views with Mario hype building for the next feature film.

Indie Direct!

Densha Attack! Or...Denshattack, I guess. That's got some CRAZY anime-energy to it! That actually looks like a lot of fun. Not sure if it's my kind of game or not. But, I'll admit, that's a fun trailer to kick things off with.

My Little Puppy! That dog does NOT know what's going on. It's basically All Dogs Go To Heaven...the game! That rainbow bridge is pretty. I'm betting this game WILL make you cry, though.

Heave Ho 2. Yeah, looks like a solid enough wacky puzzle game.

Moonlighter 2! Oh, I hear nothing but good things about the first game. So, this should be pretty solid if you like rouge-likes.

Woodo. I like the artstyle with everything being made of wood. The gameplay's pretty simple, but it does look charming as all get out.

Minishoot Adventure. Space Invaders meets Zelda. Interesting idea. I could see it being a pain to control, though. It's available TODAY, so I guess we'll see what reviews say soon.

The Midnight Walk. This does have a pretty memorable stop-motion like artstyle. I'm not that into horror games, though.

Rotwood. I do like a good side-scrolling brawler. And it does look like it has some nice animations. I feel like the color palette's they've chosen just makes everything blend together a little too much, though.

Mixtape! Now, this game has some STYLE! Even if the story is likely going to be fairly by-the-books teenage growing up stuff. But, it looks like a animated movie.

Blighted. Looks like people who enjoyed Hades might find something to enjoy here. I kind of wish it had a bit more style in the gameplay department. The world looks interesting enough.

Deadzone Rogue. A rogue-like sci-fi shooter. Not gonna lie, this looks pretty generic. But, who knows, it could be good.

Grave Seasons. I like the art style. Not sure if the farming or town-sim gameplay is something I'd be interested in.

Unrailed 2. Not my kind of thing, I don't think.

Toem 2! Oh, they're making a second one! I hear good things about this picture-taking adventure.

Inkonbiki. Again, not my kind of thing. Not that big on store simulation games, even if they have a story.

Outbound. A camping simulator? Again, probably not my kind of thing.

Ratatan! Well, this at least looks more promising. It looks like it's got some style. This might be worth looking more into.

Blue Prince. A mystery, exploration, rogue mansion-exploring game where the rooms reset every time. It might be interesting. But, I'm not sure why this got saved to be the last game reveal. And, again, it's available later today, so we'll see what reviews say soon.

Well, that was...fine. Nothing mind-blowing, but plenty of solid-looking games. There's some stuff that's on my radar now. That's really all you can ask for with these Indie Directs, I guess.

Oh yeah! Totally forgot to follow up on this. Yeah, it's cardboard, but it's a high quality, sturdy cardboard. So it's not bad quality at all.

But it only 5 minutes before my eyes were tired, my neck was sore and I could tell these games just weren't any fun.

I know there's supposed to be more games coming. But as is, I can definitely see why the Virtual Boy never took off the first time.

Indie showcase: def gonna try the Denshattack demo. My Little Puppy:
Forget the game making you cry. Just watching that bit, even w/ the cheerful narration and cute pics, made me cry a bit. I don't think I can play it while crying.

I haven’t actually broken out my plastic Virtual Boy shell yet, but I will soon. Mario Clash and Mario Tennis are coming out on the 10th! Those were the two VB games I played the most back when I had the original, and the ones I was waiting for.

I bought my original Virtual Boy new for $25 back when Nintendo discontinued it. I appreciate it, but if I'm honest, I probably overpaid. The mix of being incredibly uncomfortable to play and having only a handful of mediocre games is definitely not a good combo.

Denshattack demo was fun, though I worry I won't be able to get far in the game since I suck at it, lol. At least it gives you frequent/fast respawn points.

Just *thinking* about the concept for My Little Puppy is making me misty-eyed.

People guffawing at Resident Evil Requiem and the Generation packs at one million selling less then the PS5 versions but fail to realise it's sold out in many places.

So, Nintendo is going to start pricing the physical versions of their games differently than the digital versions.

Not necessarily charging more for the physical versions than they have been. The digital versions will just be cheaper. The example they give is with the new Yoshi game. The physical version will be $70, and the digital version will be $60.

I'm...not necessarily against this. I might even go so far to say this is a good thing. Digital versions of the games SHOULD cost less. We'll see how it's executed, though. I just don't trust this, I guess. It feels like they're setting this up as a excuse for more $80 games in the future. We'll see.

Mind you, this IS likely all to push gamers towards a digital-only future, which I'm not looking forward to. That way, Nintendo or whoever can have total control over your library and you''ll never really "own" a game, ever again. But, there's pluses and minuses to this.

If they are going this route, though, I do hope they come out with a version of the Switch 2 that has a bigger hard drive bundled in with it. If you're going to push us to get more games digitally, at least give us enough space to download them all! Nintendo's really stingy with their storage space.

There's no winning with this. They make them the same price, people complain that digital games should cost less because they're saving all the money on manufacturing and packaging. They make them cheaper, the same people complain that they're disincentivizing buying physical which accelerates the death of physical media. Because in both cases, those people are entirely right. The only way to win is to never offer digital purchases in the first place, and in that timeline indie games never become a thing at all.

If you’ve been on the fence about Kirby Air Riders and are a Costco member, most Costco warehouses have Kirby Air Riders on clearance for $49.99.

Personally I think that they should make the digital games even cheaper. $10 off of $70 is still them walking away with a ton of cash to sell you a file download.

Make it $40, then I will start to notice and consider it.

I have seen the price dip a lot since launch. Lots of deals on it in various places. A newer cheaper version would be neat to have.

Nintendo's cutting Switch 2 production and making a new model with a replicable battery for both Japan and the EU.

IMO this'll be an attempt to bring down the price too, like a Switch 2 Lite for holiday 27.
The battery thing is a requirement of EU regulations, so Nintendo is only doing that for their legal coverage. The North American market will get it simply out of practicality, just like how EU forced Apple to abandon the Lightning connection on iPhones worldwide due to EU rulings.

There will NOT be a price reduction. We'll be lucky to not see an INCREASE, given the current state of component costs.
