I thought Trump went ballistic when the guy won. Or did I get him mixed up with the right-wing establishment again?

He (Drumpf) did, at first. Then the new mayor went over and said some nice things, and now Drumpf's happy again.

It could all change by next week, of course.

Is this a New York thing? I used to have a lot of interactions with a New Yorker that were rather like this....

Goddammit. It's bad enough for the left and the right to both be espousing extremist views I can't abide, but do they have to literally be working together? That's the kind of both-sidesism that Ken Levine games wouldn't even stoop to because it would be too unrealistic.

Israel’s actions open them up to COUNTLESS WAYS you could factually criticize them so why on Earth (outside of someone truly hating the Jewish people) would you stick with “bloodsucking vampires” and the other Protocols greatest hits?

Bigoted moron.

I mean, you can absolutely be a terrorist and still suffer Police brutality.

Would Nadine Buzzard-Quashie’s treatment (which you linked to in the other thread) have been ok if she had stabbed two people beforehand?

Well, no, of course not, but I don’t think that the immediate concern should be the perpetrator in this particular incident. That looks utterly callous when two people came close to losing their lives in a racially motivated attack. I mean, the leader of a political party which has an increasing problem with antisemitism among its candidates should not handle this issue in such a pathetic manner. This unfortunately is unlikely to be the last time this sort of attack happens, and politicians should be seen unequivocally condemning murderous acts aimed at the Jewish community.

Just watched the video. From some of the comments, I assumed the guy was repeatedly struck after the threat was neutralized.

I didn't see any strikes (within margin of reaction time) after the knife was removed.

Until the knife is removed, someone that just stabbed two people is a valid target for lethal force. The idea that a taser deployment, and punches and kicks are "police brutality" in this scenario is outlandish.

I hate to go a bit dark here, but that stabbing guy would’ve been shot dead by police in most of the world. He’s still alive simply because in Britain is one of the few countries who don’t routinely arm police.

"One of the few countries"? I assumed arming police (or anyone else) was almost exclusively an American thing.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.
Citizen
Nope: it's more common for cops to be armed, than unarmed in the british style. But in civilized nations it also comes with oversight for shootings, de-escalation training, weapon control training, and such like.
