In Space No One Can Hear You Scream: An Alien thread

Given how many different aliens are running around, I really wasn't sure how seriously to take her "pregnancy" claims. I...guess she probably isn't, though? She doesn't seem to "feel" different, after her "treatment". Unless it's a twist later that she was.

And personally, I kind of wonder if the eyeball is somehow going to end up "possessing" the xenomorph, eventually. The Aliens franchise does love it's xenomorph variants. A xenomorph with a single, cyclopean eye could be a memorable variation.

Yeah, I'm going with eyeball just wanting the best possible body too.

The twist of having a synth give birth would be horrific, haha

Hey, this is Aliens. If you don't have any characters that you want to root for...you can always root for the xenomorph! And you might be on the winning side!

Me, I couldn't stop thinking about "How to Train Your Dragon" this entire episode, for some reason.

So, I haven't seen Alien: Earth. I've heard very good things, and I've been watching reviews on YouTube, but I want to offer an opinion about the program.

First, I have nothing against Noah Hawley. He's clearly a competent writer and director. I do, however, have some issue with a creative choice that he made with this series. Specifically, his decision to set the show in an alternate timeline from the rest of the franchise. I get that creators gotta create and certain things work better for what he wants to do than others, but the world of Alien isn't as vast and elaborate as the worlds of, say, Star Trek or Star Wars, and it feels like there was plenty of room for a program like this to connect to the films. I'm a little concerned that people will look at this show and think "Okay, this show's telling me everything I need to know, I don't need to see anything else, especially if the other stuff is only tangentially connected to this show."

I'm not saying that Hawley has to incorporate everything from the wider franchise. Dude doesn't want to have Engineers? That's cool, most of the movies don't have them and they're a divisive retcon anyway. Dude doesn't want to have Predators? That's cool too, and probably cheaper. I just think there's a difference between "I'm not including them in this story because they don't serve any use in this story" and "I'm not including them because they don't exist in this story".

I'm not gonna say that this show is a bad one, however. Many of the themes it explores are very much in the spirit of the franchise. I just feel like acknowledging what came before, especially if you're building upon that foundation, is better than ignoring it.

Saw the 8th and final episode. Well, darn. I thought there would be more eps cuz, darn, darn, darn.

Still tho, I'm soooo happy I was wrong about my prediction on the eyeball. Loooove the result.

Weird thing but who in the world are the elevator people? They got a whole bunch of screen time. Important?

Also, side thing in the lab, but who was the body in the lab? I'm assuming it's the synth who got fly acid attacked? So it being melted down is done by the... thing that attacked next? Like, it was a foreshadowing of what the thing does to its victims?

Oooor is it suppose to be a mystery, ala the flies came back and got more material and will now be a Superfly beast? Or something? Am just wondering about the storytelling and what is suppose to lead the viewer to understand.
