There is a real utility to this openness. Sometimes we ask about a potential character, and the answer we get is "We want to! We just haven't figured out the best way to handle this and that. Let us know what you think." Like with Pretenders. It is not obvious what's the best way to handle Pretenders. It doesn't hurt to be honest and say "Yeah we're still figuring this out. Let us know what you think." because they do honestly want to know.
Yeah, the worst we get nowadays is "Not at this time."

Yeah, the worst we get nowadays is "Not at this time."
Even that is nice because it's like "ok they're not looking to do that right now"
Which is still a step up from "we can't discuss that at this moment."

I'm still hoping for a refire on Crosshairs, he stands out next to the others.
Not to mention he doesn't have his Targetmaster buddy. No sense doing the Autobot Targetmasters without their Targetmaster partners.

Spoilsport looks great, and Sureshot looks pretty good, too!

Redone Crosshairs can be in a 2-pack with redone Crankcase or Windsweeper. Put them in a line with a new Side Burn and Minerva and Strongarm. Compromises to fudge an nth retool out of a mold can be rough. Sometimes things work out and it's a Devcon with enough new parts to capture the character well, and sometimes sacrifices of various sizes have to be made.

He looks nice and I plan on picking him up. As @lastmaximal jokingly (or not so jokingly) pointed out, it would be nice to have a proper Crosshairs. I passed on that retool because it lacked the Targetmaster and because I never cared much for that mold. But he looks really out of place in those promo shots.

Yeah, Crosshair's vehicle mode stuck me as an all-terrain assult/recon buggy, not an armored truck. I'd be fine with a redo on him.

It's really their fault for releasing a half ass Crosshairs while doing such a better job with the rest of the "team".
Crosshairs came out at the tail end of the "give the mould a new paint scheme and head" era of reuse. And sometimes we didn't even get a new head.

I don't think it's anyone's "fault," I just think the brand has moved in some very positive directions since. It wasn't long after Crosshairs came out that the teams at Hasbro and TT began to push for more extensive remoulds when it came to reuse.

Crosshairs just came out a bit too early for his own good.

I wouldn't say it was the tail end of that era. That's still happening five years [oh my GODDDD] later. More like he came out toward the end of a LINE, at which point the budget mojo had already been worked.

I mean, Sureshot has the benefit of being (mostly? entirely? they've done such wild stuff with partials) a new mold. Pointblank was all-new. To look at another "gimmick trio" end -- all retools this time -- Rukus got a lot of retooling, while Windsweeper just got a new head. Crankcase got a lot of little things, some literally, that don't quite add up to the effectiveness of Rukus' re-realization of the gimmick.

In another universe Crosshairs gets made early in a new line like the other two, and he gets to "own" the mold like Pointblank and (I assume) Sureshot. (Frankly I'm surprised we haven't seen the Pointblank mold reused yet.) And then there's a Mudslinger retool (using the back as the chest), because I had a Mudslinger as a kid and I'm imagining this universe.

Crosshairs was basically a not-bad idea done at a point in the line's life cycle when all that was doable (I presume) was a new head. And really the Siege Ironhide mold is a good mold, and the Crosshairs colors look nice and crisp on it. I just miss the big monster truck wheels, and have on-and-off eyed some of the upgrade kits (between the cost and question of durability I've always passed, but they look nice).

"SURESHOT! Sure to make a bot body drop!! But don’t you dare forget his Target Master buddy SpoilSport! Feels good to finally get this guy out there to yall! I’ve been trying to get this dope character out there since Legacy series 1!

My main man Yuya san has just done it again. Dude crushes it! He always has this amazing ability to get the wildest articulation while utilizing it in transformation sequence.

The color scheme tho, sheesh, talk about that pop sizzle shake, make ya wanna get up and shout! OW! As I was saying, ahem, the deets on this guy are pretty much self explanatory. He has great ways to connect and utilize his Target Master, dune buggy mode will keep ya entertained, 5 mm connections strategically placed, great colors, great articulation, rebirth head style to match his crew, big wheels got me giving the big feels on this dude.

I somehow just couldn’t resist starting off with this guy even though the first wave of AOTP for the second year has some power houses. I think I might have to jump up to the wooly next!"

The changeover to the current Hasbro Transformers team happened during the development of Kingdom, after John Warden left Transformers to go over to Ghostbusters and Power Rangers. Crosshairs was made back during his era. The current era of Mark, Evan, and BMac being the faces of the brand really began with Legacy Year 1, three lines after Crosshairs's release at the end of Siege.
