Once upon a time; looking at your watch too often, or catching a football weird was enough to end a presidential run and career. My, oh my how the world has changed and not for the ******* better.
No, it was only enough if you were a Democrat. And probably still is. Because the Republicans control the media landscape, which means they decide when someone's career is "over." The only time I can recall when a Republican was ruined over something petty was all the way back in the '50s when Nixon sweated too much on television, and the two parties were on much more even footing back then.Once upon a time; looking at your watch too often, or catching a football weird was enough to end a presidential run and career.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Monday ordered the arrest of the Democrats who fled the Lone Star State in an effort to halt the advancement of new congressional maps that could benefit Republicans in next year’s midterms.
“Texas House Democrats abandoned their duty to Texans,” Abbott said in a statement. “By fleeing the state, Texas House Democrats are holding hostage critical legislation to aid flood victims and advance property tax relief. There are consequences for dereliction of duty.
We weren't calling for the FBI to intervene in a state level matter, though. Texas law imposes a $50 a day fine for members of the state legislature who don't show up for work, I believe.Weren't we calling for this exact same thing to happen when Republicans refused to show up for work in Oregon?

State Sen. J. Stuart Adams, Republican leader of the Utah Senate, once said that transgender athletes put cisgender girls at risk. Now, he’s facing criticism for his help to keep his 18-year-old relative out of jail after he raped a 13-year-old girl.
Adams helped change a state law to give his accused relative a lighter sentence. Adams swears he neither requested nor helped draft the 2024 law that aided his relative, but he did ask for the relative’s rape charges to be reconsidered in light of the new law.
