There was also the whole Ratchet-all-alone-on-the-run-from-the-one-mech-army business for two issues -- but that was all the way back when Furman was the regular writer for IDW-2005-G1, so one can be forgiven for forgetting it.

Because damn, time has indeed flown.

Wasn't IDW Sixshot being headhunted by some cabal of Death Dealers or some such at some point? I feel like that was an early plot point that kind of didn't go anywhere, but I'm not so invested in it to research...

Besides, Sixshot Ninja Consultant is the best Sixshot.

I am hyping myself up for a toy like half the price of a Deluxe. Last time this happened was when a dollar store had a bunch of relatively okay G1 Bruticus knockoffs.

My personal theory is that they only stopped because the molds were completely destroyed by overuse.

Pretty good. While the middle and inner shin have no surface to them, the outer shin and the front purple block keeps it steady.

Finally saw SS Scrapper and Bonecrusher in person. Yeah, don't regret passing on this set anymore, they do not look great.

Scrapper looks decent but he doesn’t really do a lot of transforming in any mode so he’s kind of a freebie. Bonecrusher is just stubby all around for some reason.

Devastator has a ridiculously wide upper body with puny arms and in general doesn’t look anywhere near good enough to compensate for the silly frame or the compromised members.

I bought an Armada Red Alert at a local online shopping platform. They had it at slightly less than retail and with coupons and stuff ended up at about Deluxe price.

It looks well worth Deluxe price. Maybe it's worth it at Voyager price too. I don't know. I don't see much overtly wrong with it. I just find it uninspiring. So maybe they nailed the character. Kinda boring but totally reliable.

Yeah, character’s not very memorable, colors are a bit generically autobot and the swappable hand replacements are all that’s notable really. He’s also got a badass gun for a medic I guess.

That said, still more interesting than Flatline.

This one has my attention. I can take or leave combining DInobots but Cang Toys has drifted into an aesthetic closer to Gundam. I also like the Geno Saurer vibes the T-rex mode has, while still being recognizable as Grimlock.

Zoids-looking beast modes will always get my attention, if I'm honest.
