Thunderbolts* is currently scheduled for theatrical release in May 2025.

Apparently, the asterisk in the title is supposed to be significant to something. We will just have to see.

Hope it's awesome. Hope they don't kill each other.

I'm guessing this is based on some modern version of Thunderbolts? Because it seems to have very little in common with the original version of them from what I can tell - the originals were public from the start under their new identities(and it was originally all a plot by Baron Nemo that the others end up rebelling against), while this looks to be doing the exact opposite of all that.

From a wiki dive I did a while back, it seems like the concept DID evolve from the “villains masquerading as heroes” to “Villain reform group” to a pseudo Suicide Squad concept.

And yeah, this feels like a more modern interpretation of the group.

David Harbor and Florence Pugh were the best things about the Black Widow film, so if only to see their return I'm very much looking forward to this.

I am sad that Songbird isn't in this.

Honestly, I'd rather have the OG lineup than a bunch of one-offs from other MCU TV shows and movies that mostly happened to wind up under the banner at some point or another.

I wonder if this is how Guardians of the Galaxy fans felt when that movie's roster was revealed.

I rather liked Songbird from the original Thunderbolts comics but I don't think modern Avengers writers think to include her in the team, which is a shame.

From the six, only Taskmistress and Ghost need personality. Bucky and USAgent have their patriotic whatever to go on and White Widow and Red Guardian have a parent daughter thing to go on.

But I'll totally hate it if Bob takes over the story. I found his original comic and even theme to be boring. Paul Jenkins writer? Why couldn't it have been a Zero gambit?

Bob having a 6 finger AI hand in the poster shows how much effort they're putting into this. So I'm out. Not that I wasn't already unenthusiastic about the z-list squad movie.

Madam Hydra playing the part of Amanda Waller. Bucky and Us Agent as Rick Flag and Peacemaker ... Black widow 2 as the snarky blonde ... it's nearly a 1-1 Suicide squad swap out.

the best I can hope from this movie is Gaia from Secret Invasion shows up and Bob's evil side kills her - thus resetting the power scales of the mcu and getting rid of that silly mistake...

He doesn't, though. He has five fingers, it's just cropped in a way that makes it look weird.

Count fingertips. It's weird perspective but I don't think it's AI.

Maybe that's a good thing.... it could mean the studio will keep their paws off it, not cause 50 reshoots and end up creating a convoluted mess that cost 3x what it should have, as has happened all too many times recently.

If they can keep it simple, fun and the budget low, this should be a guaranteed success.

I, personally, think it's a misdirect.

I think Val tries to call them the Avengers, (Bucky's "We can't call ourselves that!" line and Val's "Good optics"line.)

I do think they probably don't like the Thunderbolts name, but no one comes up with anything better in the movie.

I saw Thunderbolts! Two extra scenes at the credits.

No spoilers.

It was pretty awesome!!! The new character is better than I figured. Steven Yuen could have taken the role and it would have worked. I feel like they inserted name drops on purpose for it. But the new guy kicks it out of the park. Did a great job.

Slow part at the start and some slow down later. Honestly few fight scenes only, boo.

Red Guardian stole his scenes. Not enough of USAgent for me. Could have been more Ghost honestly. Yelena was the center, not Bucky. Valentina Defontaine spelling was funny? It worked.

The pre conflict conflict was cool! The actual conflict point was chilling. Hope it works for the audience cuz it was a scary moment for me.

Ending minutes had me cheering. Loved it!

Could have been faster at the start. And I absolutely HATE a thing they did. But over all, loved it! Liked better than Captain SAmerica.

Saw it this afternoon.

These actors work really well together. Sometimes you watch something and people are trying really hard to say their lines the right way, but they don't have any chemistry - these guys are a great mix. And David Harbour must have so much fun playing Red Guardian.

Fun action scenes. Some other scenes that were actually really touching.

Edited, because I forgot one thing - it felt a little more like an older Marvel movie, pre-Infinity War/pre-Endgame. There was a good story, but there was also some good world-building on what has happened before and some setup for what could happen next.

I have some "what are they going to do with that?" questions, but I'll wait until more people watch it and jump in on the discussion.

"Felt like an older Marvel movie", I'm wrapping my head around that. I'm not sure about the middle of the movie but the ending really got me giddy again. Like that classic feeling when you don't know what's happening next, yeah.

Have to say that De Fontaine also made the movie. She deserves some props, even though she won't be remembered as well as 'regular humans' Nick Fury or Maria Hill.

I didn't watch the trailers so when the dark marks started appearing, I was creeped out. It was a great visual threat.

Hope the good word keeps getting passed and the Thunderbolts gets a trilogy like Guardians of the Galaxy. An obscure team that makes it big.

I watched it Friday. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would considering I felt like this was going to be Marvels PG-13 Suicide Squad attempt going in. But it turned out a bit better than I expected. Yelena and Red Guardian carried the movie. Ghost felt more like she was there as a plot device rather than her own character at times. US Agent got a bit more development than Ghost but still felt kinda just there to be the budget Cap joke. Bucky, well is already well established at this point so I didn't mind that he wasn't doing too much early on. DeFontaine Continues the heinous control freak act well here enough for me to hate enough. And Bob.... Bob was fun.

Though I'm kicking myself about the reason for the * in the title.
