If not for the general deflating of Hollywood post-pandemic, I don't think the Bumblebee approach necessarily had to be the way to go. Most of the Bay films were maybe one script revision away from being fine. It was always annoying how close they were.

Actually, yeah. I've seen "FINAL DRAFT" and "REVISED FINAL DRAFT" be completely different scripts.

Some minor news on (one of?) Paramount's next Transformers film:

Reportedly, Jason Fuchs (Showrunner and co-creator of IT: Welcome to Derry) is taking on a writer's role of the new film. Rumored to pick up off the end of Rise of the Beasts, which featured Noah Diaz being recruited by the GI Joe Special Mission Force. The typical crew of producing partners are coming back, again.
Fuchs' project is reportedly separate from Derek Connolly's (Jurassic World, 2027 Legend of Zelda) reported Transformers and GI Joe crossover treatment

Huh, I figured when Bay got involved, it mean the live action reboot universe was toast and we'd either be going back to the bay series or see something new.

Eh, it's not like Bay gave a crap about his own continuity anyway.

We could see a soft reboot with it, the transwarp key being capable of manipulating space and time may explain timeline discrepensies in all the previous filns. It was theorized the Maximal homeworld was in the distant future AFTER The Last Knight and Scourge was once Optimus Prime. they could tie them in that way.

It is 2018. The next live-action Transformers movie may be a soft reboot. Or a reboot. Or a sequel. Maybe all of those. Perhaps.

It is 2023. The next live-action Transformers movie may be a soft reboot. Or a reboot. Or a sequel. Maybe all of those. Perhaps.

It is 2026. The next live-action Transformers movie may be a soft reboot. Or a reboot. Or a sequel. Maybe all of those. Perhaps.

To be fair, a crossover with Gi Joe was never going to work on the big screen as Gi Joe hasn't exactly been a smash hit at the box office, far as I'm aware, its had three films, and none of them really set the box office on fire, however I have my misgivings about another live action TF movie, I wasn't exactly enthralled by the last couple of movies in live action as they were pretty much all over the place, Rise of the Beasts, when you think about it, it kind of, well falls apart surrounding the human characters, the woman is a expert in historical stuff while her boss, is a moron who hasn't got the slightest clue of what genuine or not!

I don’t particularly care either way but if the last movie’s direction was anything to go by, we might as well get authentic Bayhem.

Still not really into Bay being back, but I shed no tears for the GI Joe thing being scrapped. The movie with Danny McBride's script -- or really any attempt to get GI Joe back on its own feet by itself -- is the way to go for that. Transformers has its own problems, and might yet get to experience more after this. One just hopes the right lessons have been learned from the messy last decade (and Bay's own messy decade), but who knows.

Just put TF07 back in theaters for the anniversary. At least that would make a profit. Maybe more than they'd expect. It's not like CGI has gotten better since then.
Make it be the IMAX extended cut version that never got a home media release.

Just realizing that whatever direction the live-action movies take from now on, it will be without Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime. Unless his estate authorizes an AI reproduction, the thought of which just makes me doubly sad.

I'm not 100% against casting an AI for some character at some point. Having a mechanical character actually played by a machine isn't a worthless idea.

But doing it to reproduce a deceased actor is just icky. They can feed it a script that the actor have refused for any number of personal reasons. The estate can agree all they want, but the actor might have refused. I don't want to see it.
