And Vortex's mysterious stubby wings. Did he drink Red Bull right before combining?

I don't think those are wings. Notice how he doesn't have the tail rotor? If this was the toy, those would be his arms, that become the tail rotor. For some reason they are seperated and then simplified.

It's possible the animators were going off a Bruticus with a mistransformed Vortex arm, with Vortex's own arms split apart and pointed upward.

unluckiness

Somehow still sane

Wasn’t Bruticus the combiner where the animators only had 80’s era fax machine images of the toy photos to work with?

An odd step to improvise, to be sure.

Especially since, at least on mine, I don't think Vortex's arms would have held up that well.

Sort of like his chest plate, come to think of it.

Pain in the aft to find, pain in the aft to own.

I do seem to have evaded the windshield problem (I've seen some reports of misfired pins) unless I just don't know what to look for. But the shoulders were absolutely scary tight.

Thankfully there was a little dropper/squeeze thing of silicone lubricant here for another thing. Tried slowly adding it to the rivet head in the shoulder, using a cotton swab to drip it in between the purple plastic base and the big yellow arm panel. Then just used the squeeze nozzle to drip the lube right onto the rivet head and the aforementioned juncture and wiggled it a bit every now and then to hopefully work it into the joint shaft bit by bit. It's a lot better now, just some pleasant friction for the joint.

I just realized, Fansproject Munitioner back in the day cost $50. People said it was outrageous and it was, especially in a day of ten buck deluxes. Maybe his 3rd party relative gave Swindle ideas?

I wish I'd had them, at the time they were beyond my means. Munitioner and Explorer came with a huge set of accessories too.
We may need to chat. I've been thinking about parting ways with my Energon Bruticus with Munitioner and Explorer.

I can't right now, I was lucky to complete the other Bruticus and to have the guns and parts I used already. Things are getting a bit weird again. But thank you for the thought! Back in the day I improvised with the yellow dozer, a couple guns on it to make an arm cannon, and one of the Warthog looking planes to have four different limbs, with a minicon tank on his back to make the backpack. It wasn't a great effort, but it worked!

Unrelated, did you know what started the Great War was an argument about a County Fair contest...?
