Totally forgot, went to hang out with my dad and we ended up at a mall. There was an independently owned game store in it.

They had a deal going on where you could get a percentage off certain games depending on a color sticker. I didn't realize it, but every game I chose had a white sticker that gave 70% off.

Picked up Spray for the Wii and Defender for the PS2 for about 1.50 each.

Picked up LifeForce for the NES for about 5 bucks.

Picked up Project Snowblind for the Xbox for about 6. It just looked interesting.

And picked up Phineas and Ferb The quest for cool stuff for the xbox 360 for I think 7.

Great little store, but far from where I live, so probably won't get to go back any time soon.

We then went to a store called CD Warehouse and picked up a bunch of blu rays and DVDs, but this isn't the thread for that.

Been a couple of months since I've really been around here. So first off. Happy very late Birthday. Seems I missed it.

Thanks! July was a great month for me.

Nice find on the 4 score. I have one and some games. Funny enough there is even a guide for it.

I need to get that!

The ones that I know:
Gauntlet 2 is fun, but there is no end to the game. My friends and I tried to beat it one time, leaving the NES on overnight and we got to somewhere around I think 264 before giving up. Might be a lot less. I just remember it was over 200.

I have Gauntlet 2 already so I will have to set it up and try out with my kids.

M.U.L.E. is fun but hard to explain. I swear I did a thing on it on the boards once.

MULE is a great game. My brother and I played it a lot back in the day on the NES. I will definitely have to try it out with the four players.

On the way back, I stopped at another game store that used to be attached to a thrift shop, but they had cleared out all of that stuff and just expanded the thrift shop.

So a while back, I discovered that they moved their games over to their other thrift store about five miles down the road. So today I go over there, and it's a much nicer thrift shop. In the parking lot, I can see all their old game signs in the window, all light up. So I go in, and after walking around for a while, I go over to that section, but find it completely roped off. It's all there, on shelves, in clear bags, priced and looking like its is ready to go. However, they told me that they haven't updated the prices in years so nothing in there was for sale. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! It's a thrift shore for pete's sake not a gamestop.

I know right! Even if you look up what it's going for on Price charting, you have to factor in condition in that, and these games are far from mint. Also, its been at least a year since they have been over there, why aren't they priced right? This place had at least four people working there on a random Wednesday afternoon, surely they have enough people to price it all.

Another 2nd and Charles run today and three more games.

I don't actually have an EyeToy, but I doubt it'll be too difficult to get. I've heard good things about antigrav and it was cheap.

Another Wii Light gun game. Beautiful condition. It has a lenticular cover and the 3-D glasses are still sealed in their packaging. I'm one step closer to having all the light gun games for the Wii, but it seems there's still a decent handful I'm missing!

Croc 2 was a surprise. Disc is in bad shape, but I'll see if it works. Now I need the first one.

Do retro themed stuff go here? Like Evercade?
Because they dropped a video about how they basically ported the game to the Evercade, vastly improving the game's look and performance. I'm suspecting they did the same for Doom (given the source code is available), which should help the inevitable Hexen+Heretic release

I think that given it's about the old games playing better, its fair game to talk about it here.

Also, I have been watching Mort's Garage review the two latest modern N64 consoles that just came out this year, and it's pretty interesting to watch. One of those companies is even re-releasing some of the more expensive 3rd party N64 games.

Guess you all are going to have to hear about me yap about the Evercade, especially now that I’m ”in the system” :p

I put down a preorder for the Nexus from Best Buy, which is also offering a free copy of Data East Arcade 2 with preorders. Tried to get my brother (who likes more retro games) into the platform, but he didn’t have much interest. So that means we got the Interplay Collection 1, Data East Collection 1 and Duke Nukem Collection 1 already here. Might drop some money to Pick up a couple of older collections, just in case.
My top 3 are:
Legacy of Kain Collection- I kind of want Blood Omen on the go, and I’m always going to support the Soul Reaver series
Rennovation Collection- Legends of the early Genesis days, its got a nice variety of titles, including RPGs (still a sparse genre on the platform)
Probably one of the Jaleco collections, likely the first volume for Bases Loaded and some nice home titles. Though, the Arcade Collection does have some gems as well.

So somewhat relevant. My birthday is coming up and I got a gift:

The main issue now is I don't really have anything that can support this monster. Basically thinking of trying to get to a thrift store and seeing if anything is available that I can put this on. Hopefully something with storage space or shelving so it's not just a big block of unused space.

(Oh and if anyone was wondering, Croc 2 played just fine!)

That is one epic TV! Good luck finding an entertainment center for that. Maybe look for a solid wood coffee table?

One of my brothers had this little end table, and gave it to me. So here's the new set up!

I have the Atari 2600 hooked up to it, but I'm not sure if I have the power cable... so I still need that. (Edit to clarify: the power cable to the 2600)

Using that for a 2600 seems a bit of overkill, but it should look good on it. What inputs does the TV have?

I only have the 2600 hooked up for now, and only because it has the RF connector that my modern tv naturally no longer has.

Its main goal will be for light gun games and music rhythm games. Both of which don't work on modern TVs.

It has two inputs and the channel input.

So it has a coaxial input that I assume that you are using for the 2600. Does it have S video, Component, or Composite inputs? It looks like it has front composite inputs from the pictures you have posted here.

It has composite connections in the front for input 2, then another in the back for input 1 and it does have an S-Video plug, though I've never once used one.

I also have this that I want to use to hook up a bunch of the systems all at once. My next goal will be to get the cables and hook it all up. I also want to see if I can possible run a cable to my computer. I have a capture device (elgato) I use to stream my retro systems. Probably will plug this in via the front of the TV so I can just unplug it and run it into the elgato for those times I want to stream the old consoles.

Not sure I can get the stuff to display on the old tv then run to the elgato... maybe a composite splitter that'll send the signals to both at the same time? It would allow me to stream the light gun games and Music Rhythm games. I'm looking forward to messing around with Gitaroo Man again. Always wanted to stream it.

Nice! The S Video does make a difference! I used one back in the early to mid 2000's for my Xbox, Gamecube, 360, and PS2. It will improve the video quality slightly, but noticeable.

Nice switcher! That should do nicely to hook up all your retro consoles from the NES onwards.

Sooooo this was an unexpected surprise.

Yeah last few days kinda sucked. Power outage killed my AC, and possibly my computer. My computer just doesn't come on. I'm using my laptop which can barely browse the web.

In this heat I could NOT do a day or two without AC. I ended up buying a portable AC unit from Walmart, which was a good chunk of change I didn't really want to spend, but I'd been thinking of having a portable unit around anyway. So whatever.

Friend who also got me the Turtles Arcade 1up cabinet messages me and says he has a friend who's neighbor is selling this X-Men Arcade 1up cabinet because his son doesn't play it anymore. He's selling it for a good chunk of change though, so I tell my friend I have to pass. Unless the guy was willing to do a payment plan, there is just no way I can do this right now. Especially after what just happened.

Friend tells the guy this and he decides to give me a break and agrees to a payment plan. So... here we are.

I'm considering it a birthday miracle. (It's this Thursday. ^_^)
