Florida Power & Light also suggests setting the thermostat to 78. No one does this.

On that note…

PJM provides power to a significant chunk of the “middle Eastern” US and northern Appalachia regions, including Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.

Glad I don't have to deal with that at least. FPL just hikes our rates every year to pay for upgrades to the grid. On the bright side, they actually do the upgrades.

First Amendment. The south has also spent a good chunk of the last century plus defending/positioning the Confederate flag as “Southern American Heritage”. It has only been the last 25-30 years that I feel like there has been meaningful pushback against that propaganda.

If they wanted to, they could have flown Nazi flags (as they tended to do back in the 80s and 90s), but that is generally frowned upon. The Confederate flag still has the protective layer of “American Heritage” to shield it from being viewed the same. Even if they generally are, ideals-wise.

If the US banned hate speech, the cops would just start rounding up all the black people and jailing them for saying the N word, and conveniently looking the other way at entire neo-Nazi rallies. That's how dysfunctional our entire system is.

I'm always surprised when I see Confederate flags in Florida. You know they wanted to Bugs Bunny us, right?

But it's not an "American" symbol; it literally represents treason against America.

Or, if you regard the secession as having been legitimate (as it probably would have been if the Confederacy hadn't immediately started a war and lost it), it's the war flag of a foreign country that spent its entire existence as a literal enemy of America.

Also the Confederacy existed for less time than New Coke.

Blame Andrew Johnson. He was pretty much the worst option to take office after Lincoln's assassination, and would probably be considered the worst President ever until Trump.

And that makes them different from present-day America how?

West Virginia, on the other hand... anyone sporting a rebel flag in that state ought to be legal to hunt for sport.

Please don't get us in trouble with Google. They're jumpy these days.

And that makes them different from present-day America how?

No different, really. Florida has always been Florida.

The decision to pull troops out of Florida early on wasn't just war strategy. They hated us. When the Confederacy asked for soldiers we sent a suspiciously high proportion of cavalry and officers, who all wanted a salary to match. We were absolutely just trying to suck as much money out of the Confederate government as possible. They saw right through it and they were not amused.

Word is leaking out from Laura Loomer citing a "high level source" that Mitch McConnell is functionally brain dead. The GOP is literally "Weekend at Bernies" his situation to try and avoid a replacement being placed. And his wife? She's purportedly spent the last couple weeks over in China for business talks.

Given my 20 years of ICU experience, once I heard about the on site CPR? I knew he was either dead or a decaying mound of flesh being kept "alive" by machines. And since his wife is legally in line for medical power of attorney, until she decides to withdraw care or his body finally gives out...his body is just going to stick around prevent the function of government by tying up his seat.

And meanwhile whoever sits next to him in the chamber is allowed to vote on his behalf.

Caligula had a horse; Trump has a corpse.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

"McConnell had lenghtly and substantive conversation..." bullshit. The entire regime is made of compulsive liars. I'll believe it when I see it happen on camera, uncut.
