Jetstorm, OTOH, I think basically transforms via magic.
In the show, yeah. But I’ve put some errant thought into this idea:
BM Jetstorm‘s show robot mode and Transtech Starscream share a good bit of broad structural similarities, especially in the upper torso. Why not tool a show/toy hybrid Jetstorm with alternate tooling for Transtech Starscream? It won’t be a “show accurate” Jetstorm, but it’s pretty obvious Beast Machines will always remain pretty low on the priority list. But the above option would allow fans a “good enough” Jetstorm, while also giving marketing another, albeit Obscure, version of core character Starscream.

Transtech might be the thing that's finally "too obscure, even for this brand team."

Maybe they could package a couple of them in a Jurassic Park themed collaboration like they did with the Dilophosaurus or Naruto frog guy
I forgot we were robbed of a Core Dinobot! Someone at Hasbro needs to find an excuse to make that happen.

I still think they ought to continue the Core scale with 2(or more)-packs at a higher price point. Either team sets or vs-packs, but there is still demand for smaller figures among collectors, and I could see parents perceiving a multi-pack as a better value.

I'd imagine that Jetstorm would have the option for legs, like the original figures. Prime Soundwave was evocative of Jetstorm a bit, actually. I like the idea of a dust cloud stand for Thrust, in a similar vein to what tends to come with Orko figures from MOTU.

The original (and still only) Jetstorm toys manage to add legs by looking absolutely nothing like the show design in robot mode. Maybe some wizard could figure it out but the show design looks like impossible nonsense.

I welcome this, if only because it's been fun to see the team raise up something that was Too Deep A Cut and then just flat out make it anyway. This would be a fun next thing on the list.

I suspect, if this doesn't get made, it may be because of ownership questions about the designs or concepts (although I figure Draxhall Jump probably did all the work for hire and so doesn't own the stuff) more than it is because of obscurity.

I'd rather it be worked into the anything-goes-anyway main Generations line. If they want to make Timelines the Generations-budget Somehow Kreon Warriors Returned mashup of "these same few guys forever" plus "different (Earth) time periods and concepts", let the more fun stuff get made where there are fewer unnecessary constraints.

I remember on Ben Yee's old discussion board people actively arguing over if Cheetor was Bumblebee or Hot Rod. If he replaces him in a two-pack, the debate could live again...

Do cheetor, and call him Bumblebee.
Sure, just make everyone mad.

Turns out he was actually Prowl all along. Thanks, McDonalds!
I love how Cheetor and Tigatron's head designs were based on the Datsun heads. It's a neat detail.

I'm also intrigued by the idea they had of remoulding that design into a lion as Optimus. My unsupported theory is that when they decided to change the panther/Prowl into a cheetah/Cheetor they decided to can the lion Optimus, not wanting two yellow versions of the same general mould on shelves.

The McDonald's toy did remarkably well, IMO.

Anyway, a large part of the show/toy appearance disconnect was the show's usage of non-final designs. I think a reasonably accurate Jetstorm is possible. Half the Studio Series toys take visible concessions, and Jetstorm doesn't have to be Studio Series.

Deceptitran, the Omnibots, Minispies, and the Giant Purple Griffin might disagree.

(And there are a *lot* of Cybertronian forms we've seen in the shows and comics. Pre-Earth Amada Megatron and Optimus might be tricky since we only saw their robot modes in the first episode, but we've seen Cybertronian modes for at least the Animated Autobot main TV cast. Not to mention The War Within. For examples.)

No, there's a variant that's yellow (not gold) with a black stripe down part of the side. Kinda has a Yellow Tracks vibe because of how solid the color is. I do wonder how the spots can be worked in.

I'll never complain about anything Hasbro does ever again if they give us Cybertronian forms of the Armada cast.
