Thread of Thoughts, Questions (and Maybe Even Answers) That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

I didn't even know this thread existed, but it's perfect right now.

I've got the legacy bulkhead: do you all think he would fit reasonably well with the animated figures? I've been tempted to drag him out to finish out the team since we likely won't see more animated figures (even though we should.).

ooohhh... lugnut. I loved the toy and the character.

But seriously, thoughts on legacy bulkhead fitting in?

He's the biggest departure from the Animated version of the recent releases. He fits in OK, but I personally keep my Legacy Bulkhead on my G1 shelf as a theoretical G1 version of the character with original Animated Bulkhead on my Animated shelf with a mix of original and Legacy-era figures (I never completed a set back in the day due to having very little disposable income, so I didn't have an Optimus or Bumblebee or most of the Decepticons or tertiary characters.)

Animated Animated or Legacy(etc.) Animated?

Animated designs were more curvy, so he might stand out a little bit.

He'd probably look great w/ the Legacy/AOTP releases.

(Also - he looks cool with Legacy Prime Arcee and Knockout and the Sideswipe clones.)

I loved Animated. Great series, cool toys. Never had very many, though, for $$ reasons, and I only kept a few when I had to slim things down a little bit.

Yeah... he's way too blocky to put on the shelf with the updated animated stuff...

There was only five autobots in the core group for animated, why did they skip bulkhead?!?!

Legacy Bulkhead is meant to be Prime Bulkhead, whose head is different from Animated Bulkhead.

Though, Mark also admitted that he took more visual inspiration for Legacy Bulkhead's body from AOE Hound than any actual version of Bulkhead.

I'm pretty sure that they consider Legacy Bulkhead "close enough" to not need to do an Animated Bulkhead, but I wish they would. He deserves a round stumpy-legged toy. The original Animated Voyager was such a good toy, but needed to be larger. I never had the Leader version, so I don't know how those two compared.

The Leader toy also had electronic voice clips of lines actually voiced by Bill ***erbakke: "Sorry, my bad", "You can do it, buddy!", and "Time for the big guns!" His head would twist to open up his mouth when performing this action.

His back kibble could also transform into a lounge chair for him to sit on.

EDIT: The forum doesn't like the surname of Patrick Star's voice actor. It's not even pronounced like that. "Fay-gher-bah-kee".

We just got Ratchet released, and Lugnut is coming.
Lugnut is one of the few big figures I'm still anticipating. I very much kept copy of both the Animated and RTS figures, and it blows me away that the latter toy never got any kind of a redeco apart from the era-typical Hasbro/Takara different paintjobs.

Yeah, I had a similar problem years ago under the old swear filter. It would try to convince me the artist of the older Final Fantasy games was named Yojiveaka Amano.
Ah, I see we have a clbuttic filter around these parts.

This is basically my take on it. It's just not a very good representation of either Animated or Prime Bulkhead, and not just because of the aesthetics (which are no small hurdle either). That period of feeling out how to tackle non-G1 in Legacy didn't do many favors for the handful of Prime characters. They weren't bad toys, but as remakes they definitely got lapped by the fidelity of later offerings (such as the Animated crew, which brings us to the current dilemma). These ironically felt more like "later wave retools" whose bodies started out as someone else like Chromia and Slipstream. That's what Knock Out basically is, but Bulkhead's entirely new mold debuting AS him feels like a pretool for someone else (similar to how Arcee is clearly a pretool for Road Rocket).

On that note, the mold seems good and I've been waiting for it to become a better fit for someone else, but its only appearances have been as Bulkhead and Breakdown.

Does it help if the omission was because felt Heatwave carried it more his own mold and less a retool of Bulkhead?
If you're saying Heatwave is the best version of that mold and wears it better than the two it was made for... then we are on the same page in full agreement.
