Poor Hasbro. I wonder if the Star Wars and Transformers teams share horror stories about dealing with us.

I'd be more down with him if there was less Fallen visible. Maybe some retooled legs and a better way to form the turret (the gray arms stick out incredibly bad) and maybe some more spikes, especially in vehicle mode. I don't mind having a Unicron minion on my shelf but I'm not sure about this one.

I should dig out that Cybertron deluxe next time I get a chance.
Yeah. The biggest stick outs to me are the feet (why not tool a toe point? Just to spice things up?) and the lack of head deco. Especially with this plastic tone, a LOT of details are getting washed out, doubly so under PvP’s over lighting.

That said, I don’t HATE it. And while it is seemingly going to be marketed as a “Unicron Soldier”…it’s not a bad stand in for the big bad. Unicron remains a lingering presence in the brand, and the last Unicron offered was the $500 In 2021. The last AFFORDABLE Unicron was the 2016 Platinum edition, which saw sparse distribution. And the last fully mass retail Unicron was the Cybertron deluxe back in 2006…TWENTY years ago.
So I kind of dig the multi-purpose thing they have going on between giving Marvel fans a Unicron Acolyte, Cybertron fans a pseudo-remake, and a “close enough” Unicron available at mass retail.

TFW has a pic up showing the deluxes from the upcoming Energon capsule:

I hate to say it, but I think the Megatron from this capsule might have just gone from a probable pass to a must buy. I've really been wanting a Megatron to match the Behold Galvatron release. If Megatron looks like Cybertronic, he's basically that.

You're surprised Transformer fans complained about.... anything?
It's less that and more a lack of recollection of this specific complaint being a thing, let alone widespread enough to casually bring up 20 years later as if we'd all heard of it plenty at the time. This isn't "yeah, this is going over with the fandom like those truck flames on 2007 OP".

I have never encountered this complaint. The over-the-shoulder cannon sticking out in front of the robot mode is not an issue I remember seeing brought up about this mold, which isn't a particularly perfect mold or anything and has a handful of issues. People's minds immediately went to the tiny chest gun because that's where a cannon "sticking out the front" would be cumbersome.

Anyway, glad to be able to pass on this Unicron Soldier. Was always very likely to, but it's a weird direction to go in. If it's going to evoke Unicron so closely, and it does a lot of that right down to some well-executed chest and shoulder details, it kinda needs to go the rest of the way or stall out. And to my mind's eye "the rest of the way" means the rounded, organic, greebly Unicron look, not still-very-boxy-chunky robot. Which, okay, this isn't Unicron, it's a Unicron Soldier -- but then what would help that is if the look diverged even more. Idk what variation of Uncanny Valley (just incorporating its "you got just close enough to not be close" element, no heebie-jeebies) applies.

These look very nice (it's neat that the nameplates are also in their colors) but there's just too much going on right now. If these hang around a bit, maybe then. They might climb up in priority depending on how good they look in better pictures, but the line is getting pretty long as it is.

They look nice, but I'd still rather have those molds in Junkion colours.

The colors look nice, but the idea of toys held together entirely by peg and socket joints being made of clear plastic has me very wary.

That's why the Armada Unicron tank figure was released too; due to some markets not releasing (or their retailers not wanting) a large Unicron to begin with.

What the heck are those? Why do they look like that?

I like clear redecos in theory but I really don't like the style where they draw lines around the detailing. Also, these guys in particular who are held together with clear pegs in clear ports? Think I'll pass. A shame. I'd like the Weaponizers in more generic colors.
