He was never really a good Minicon to start with, I mean on the Powerlynx verison of Jetfire I got, due to the weak plastic surounding the wheels connection to the body, it broke, while I never got rid of him, he somewhere in a box, it was a desgin flaw that was clearly overlooked when they desgined him at the time!
Is there any confirmation that he will have Pants mode?
Not offically but if you look at his shield, there's a lack of a Autobot symbol that was on the original toy and on Optimus, you can remove the symbol on the top of the cab mode and plug that into that hole, Tidalwave got around the combining with Megatron/Galvatron while being a titan class figure so my conclusion is that he fully capable of combining with Optimus as he pretty much sharing the same basic engineering as the original toy

Seeing how I couldn't be arsed to combine Optimus and Jetfire back in the "Armada" days, even though I owned them, and the fact he kind of looks worse....
Then again, I didn't futz with my Armada Jetfire much when I got him (again, didn't bother combining) I'm probably running with very incomplete/skewed/outdated information.

am i crazy or did they base the new jetfire's robot mode off a mistransformed copy of the original
maybe but we only have stock images to go off of and the Transformers brand stock photography people can't pose these things properly transformed to save their lives. So we'll have to wait on in-hand reviews/pics.
Given the way this team works, I could easily see the SpaceWarp deco later to go with Armada Nemesis. Then we can have SwordFight Jetpants vs. SpaceGun Jetpants. Assuming by that point that hidden design flaws don't cause all their partner weapons to break in weird ways before the fight ever happens.

He did not have knees. He also didn't truly have legs. He was basically the shuttle mode split in half. Jetfire's legs were the super mode's lower legs, while his arms served as the thighs. They weren't actually connected, though. It was the shuttle shell that held them in a vaguely leg-like column configuration. If this new Jetfire forms actual legs, it'll be a huge improvement. I'm really looking forward to seeing it.
Jetfire's one of my favorite bots from the UT, so I'm pretty excited to get him in hand. Even moreso if we really are getting Overload next year. I think I'm even more excited at the prospect of finally getting a Spacewarp, though. I really hope they release her to go with Nemesis.

Not happy with the lack of Commetor, the G1 Jetfire paint apps and the puny gun. I hope the bay opens up for storage/play patterns....
My guess is that the back will open, but to what size is yet to be seen but likely big enough to house the robot mode arms as that's how the original did it, as for Commetor, I'm not worried about his existance being apart of Jetfire as the original toy of him, is rather lack luster and my copy from the Powerlynx verison had one of the connection points to the main body, break, leaving him unable to actually stand up in robot mode or vehicle mode because of very thin plastic surounding the bar!
