Yoooo...turtles?

Due this spring, probably going to be revealed before too much longer with an April 2026 release. Coming from Playmates, these are looking to be "TMNT scale" rather than classic GI Joe 3.75" scale. I'm actually a bit surprised at the breadth of product on deck. Almost makes me wonder if Hasbro isn't eyeing licensing out the "kid" GI Joe stuff while they continue focusing on Classified.

It's like, I got complaints on some of the character interpretations (Snake Eyes should have gone to Raph, Leo should have gotten Duke, Casey Jones feels a better selection for Roadblock, Cobra Shredder is just unimpressive to me), but they also work in that weird "marketing mandated selections" that drove the old crossover TMNT stuff in the 90s. The turtle-fied vehicles are quite impressive to me, and I suspect there's a Foot/Cobra Vehicle that got cut off in one of those images. For a cross over thing, Playmates is putting a LOT into it.

Is this a last hurrah for the Playmates line?

I mean…probably? We’ll know for sure at Toy Fair next month, but Playmates license expires December 31, 2026 and they get an additional 90 days to sell off inventory.

Mutant Mayhem 2 was slated for release in October, but saw a delay to September of 2027 last spring. I STRONGLY suspect that a major reason for the delay was to be a carrot for a new licensee. Y’know, Playmates winds down their TMNT ranges in spring 2027, the market gets a few months without any major TMNT product, then the new license holder does a big roll out for Mutant Mayhem 2.

Mayhem movie 2 is next year?

I only just saw the Search for Squarepants movie and it had the Mayhem TMNT Christmas short when the bros were getting a gift for their dad and they saw... Tubular Tortoise Karate Warriors on TV.

Was there any discussion of that here? Cuz the secret villain origin was hilarious!

I saw this at Target today. I'm honestly surprised there were any left. This isn't exactly a new toy. They must be trying to get rid of old stock.

I gave it the most monstrous head, because of course I did. I often forget just how many accessories come with NECA toys.

Is it just me, or do the mcfarlane turtles look like their made of wax paper?
There's this tan waxy wash over the plastic that I think is meant to replicate reptile skin texture?

I know McFarlane's Turtles are specifically based off of IDW's current Turtle comics, but I'm not reading it so I don't know if that's accurate to the comics or a flourish Todd added because that's kind of what he does.

So, I guess the new issue of Battle Nexus is out. Don't know when it happened, but I saw it in my Kindle library last night. Alopex is still awesome!

Honestly, I'm kinda glad. If it had to be taken away from Playmates, I'd rather it go to Mattel than Hasbro. I'd rather it be anyone but Hasbro. So, I'm happy.

I don't get the Hasbro hate to be honest. They've got a more solid track record at 1/12 scale action figures then Mattel... though in fairness, Mattel has upped their game the last few years.

I admit I thought Hasbro had the inside track, if only because of their existing relationship with Paramount via Transformers and GI Joe.

But maybe the Star Wars and Marvel licences from the Mouse really are so expensive that they don't want to plunk down more on additional licences?

Either way, hopefully Mattel redoes the Batman X TMNT movie figures in 2027, once they're running with both lines.
