I regret selling my Megabolt Megatron. He was a fantastic figure.
I regret not buying Megabolt Megatron, despite seeing him several times at a KayBee Toys store during that era. If only current me could talk to 20-year-old me, there's quite a few figures I passed over then that I would have bought if I knew then what I know now...

I never saw Megatron Megabolt at any KBs near me back in the day. I wouldn't get to experience the mold for the first time until buying one at BotCon 2010.

Presently, he sits snuggly on the body of a much more to-scale figure than the G1 Fort Max mold:

I turned five in '84. I can remember that there was a time before Transformers existed, but I can't remember when I first encountered it, when I first got one of the toys, etc. Despite that, for as long as I can remember, I've had a sense that Windcharger was my first Transformer. He was certainly one of my first TFs, given he's one of the five '84 bots I had (along with Megatron, Optimus, Cliffjumper, and Bumblebee). I really can't say for sure whether he really was the first one I got, or if I just decided one day that he was my first. Regardless, I've always had a soft spot for him.

It's a bit late for Christmas, but I figured it was time for a family portrait now that SS86 Windcharger is here.

After all the fuss about SS86 Megatron, I have to say that I wasn't fully prepared for just how blue SS86 Windcharger is in person. He really stands out among the rest.

"Sir, is that really the message you want to--"

"Hit 'send', Roller!"
"I'm not--"
"Fake news, just hit 'send' already. I have to go ace another cognitive test."

"You know that multiple tests means you're... yes sir, sending now sir."

That is the exact message the U.S. government wishes Optimus would have sent out at the end of the first movie.
Specifically, the Obama administration. They really had a hate-on for the Autobots despite how obvious it was constantly proven to them over and over that they can't defeat the Decepticons without the Autobots' help.

Funnily enough Bay was friends with Obama, apparently. It wasn't so much a shot at his admin as much as it was... "generic idiot government sorts are a staple of this genre, and that's who happens to be President ATM."

Yeah, I always read it as the latter. For all their bullshit the movies were mercifully pre-this current level of bullshit. There was a name-drop or two that served more to ground the story in the "real" world (for maximum "these aren't toys anymore, they're real things in our real lives") than anything. Iirc more time was spent on the Romeo and Juliet Law nonsense.

And I mean, it's not like Bay went out of his way to blow up Chicago or any...thing... crap
