I think Sunstreaker was chosen because they'd never reissued him and they figured that if they were doing new tooling anyway it would be nice to do it for a figure that they'd lost the tooling.
And likely to honor the fact that he was the first Diaclone Car Robot toy mold ever.

Yeah, I'm aware. I actually kinda think Ironhide is outside Missing Link's scope, but maybe they would do it and just add more joints and leave him the weird mech thing that he is. But when they change and move Grimock's head, I'm not so sure what the scope is. Well, I guess Arcee is a whole new figure. Would they give him head and shoulders? Or just stay away from that noise?

If they gave Ironhide/Ratchet an actual head and another joint to bring the arms up properly (while both things could fold away or down for full toy accuracy) I think they’d do gangbusters.

I've not been aware of a spate of broken G1 Grimlocks due to transparent plastic. I can't imagine ML being worse off.
Me too. The legs, hips and shoulders get a little loose but that's about it.

Didn't expect a Carly inclusion. Neat.

I’ve liked Missing Link so far (wonky Minibot ankles aside) but that is beyond glorious!

Blasphemy! This is an outrage! How dare they!? A CHROME SWORD FOR THE TOY COLORS VERSION!!!1!11!!1? 😡

Seriously, looks pretty neat, and I'd love to get a full set of ML Dinobots. Box art notwithstanding though, the sword not being red feels really odd. Those swords are one of the things I most strongly associate with the Dinobots. Dinosaur alt modes, gray/red/gold decos, and red swords.

The swords were chromed on the Diaclone release, and between this and Magnus's tweaks really feel like the Missing Link has a secondary mission of "The toys from back then if Hasbro didn't cheap out in some way"

You know gosh darned well that they’ll be doing a “anime colors” version that all us Dinobot junkies will double dip on.

I’m going to TRY and be good…but we’ll see how they tweak it for the “anime version”. By and large, I do find a larger attachment to the “slightly off” toy designs when it comes to Missing Link, so I’m sure I’ll end up getting the “toy version”.

We had three G1 Grimlock as kids. The original I got in 85, and then a pair my dad got me and my younger brother a few years later. And then I had a G2 copy in the 90s.

Of those four only 1 broke at the Translucent dino neck joint, but it was the oldest and most played with by young kids of them all. He was played with a LOT and rough. We probably snapped it trying to take off the dino head at the joint or put it back on.

The side didn't break off entirely and it was sort of half repaired with super glue, but only sorta.

-ZacWilliam, but Grimlock is one of my favorite toys of all time, so if at all possible I need this. I'm guessing it'll be in the $90 to $130 range... which is probably doable...
