So, there's a fair chance that we could be seeing either a new animated reconstruction for a Patrick Troughton Doctor Who story, or a Blu-Ray set for one of Troughton's three seasons, released in 2026. I think the former is more likely...and I strongly suspect that, if we do get an animated reconstruction, it will be for "The Wheel in Space".
I am well aware that I am making a lot of assumptions here, but allow me to offer some evidence.
Item One - there was very briefly a YouTube channel that had the Doctor Who Collection Escape Room videos available, with the ones for the Fifth, Sixth and Second Doctors unavailable until next year. Said channel has since been renamed and the videos taken down. Now, these videos have previously been released on the Collection box sets and the Blu-Ray release for "The Celestial Toymaker". The Escape Room videos for the Fifth and Sixth Doctors will be released on the upcoming Collection release for Season 21 (Peter Davison's final year and Colin Baker's first story) and the one for the Second Doctor remains unaccounted for.
Item Two - Of Patrick Troughton's three seasons, there are four stories that remain to be rediscovered and/or reconstructed. Two of those stories are from his first year, and one is a William Hartnell story. A third is a fairly unpopular story, "The Space Pirates", while the last one, "The Wheel in Space", has two surviving episodes out of six.
Item Three - "The Wheel in Space" has had some reconstruction efforts made, which are available for viewing on home media. It also has the introduction of one of the Second Doctor's companions, Zoe Heriot, and features one of the more popular and prominent alien foes of the series, the Cybermen.
Item Four - Popular supposition is that we will not see any more Collection sets for Hartnell or Troughton until we either see more episodes recovered (which isn't impossible, and may well be on the horizon), or until more episodes are reconstructed (which is slightly more probable than episodes being recovered).
Now, I could be wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if I was proven wrong. But, the possibility exists. There is hope, and I think that's a good thing.
Just putting this out there.
