First, here are some pics of two KO/cheap transforming robot toys from a local toyshop.
And here's a big, beefy boi that I just got in the post as I returned from the shops. I've included size comparisons to two other OSKO toys too.
Robot Mode:
- It's very big but the cheap OSKO BB Optimus Prime was about the same height.
- The electronics don't seem to have batteries included (and I've no idea which batteries it takes as there's no info in the box).
- No instructions included.
- Right shoulder ratchet was too weak to hold his cannon up (but I managed to slightly tighten the screw behind his shoulder which seemed to help).
- His right elbow isn't ratcheted and can't hold up his sword without holding it up and against his body (see pictures above) or down. I will need to open up his lower arm in order to see if there's a screw under the armour plates to tighten.
- No Decepticon symbol is included on his chest (unlike the promotional pics).
- His pupils are painted (even though he also has light-up eyes).
- The four little grey "screws" in the sword hilt are prone to coming off (such as in the box) so be careful when opening the box.
Tank Mode
The added paint details and extra colours, plus the beefier cannon hide a lot of the gaps and improve this mode. It's a shame they didn't bother to add wheels to the tank treads though. At this scale, even tiny little wheels would have helped.
Spaceship Mode
The official mode is a joke, so I didn't bother with it. The pic above is a fan-mode, which moves the arms above the jet, which means there's no place for the cannon. The tabs on the the thrusters/tank treads underneath don't fit fully into the holes and the extra silver twin thrusters (which transform into his "pistol barrel" that goes behind his right shoulder, on his back in robot mode) has two armour plates that come off really easily when you need to remove the whole thing from the two pegs it attaches to in jet/tank Mode. Luckily, even though the glue came off, there are two shallow pegs to reattach them back to (and/or they can be glued back on with superglue).
This mode was also awful to transform into, as the hip joints need to be rotated twice in order for the wings to be the correct way round.
Basically, AVOID this mode.
