Trump in the forecast is enough.

I am so loving the fact that the No Kings protest had more people participating in JUST Sand Diego than what Trump was able to muster to watch his vanity parade. San Diego wasn't even the largest No Kings protests today. No wonder the photo's of Trump at his parade have him looking so miserable, he's starting to realize most people don't actually like him and are starting to see through his lies.
Until the next day, when his fiction gets reinforced by his yes men, and his dementia makes him forget.

Perhaps. But 5 to 10 million people taking to the streets to protest the actions of the current administration has got to have his enablers running a little scared. Protests are getting close to hitting or possibly have surpassed the 3.5% limit.

Anyone with common sense should see the size of the counter force, and be awed just a little bit.

Trumps supporters are divorced from common sense, and are not smart people to begin with. More to the point: they don't admit fault, they just double down, like daddy trump does.

Stephen Miller knows the score. He knows exactly what those crowd sizes mean. Problem is he and people like him are also likely willing to go 'President Clark' and try to take out the country when they know it's almost over for them.

Oh absolutely. It's part of why trump is escalating his ice raids and using military equipment to do it. He wants that made for TV moment he can use to declare martial law. The people pulling trumps strings (because his regime has been ENTIRELY too competent despite appearances.) know that if no matter how much they gerrymander and voter suppress: they will absolutely lose the midterms. Even with the majority crop of useless fuckwits that currently comprise democrats.

Let's not assume anything. We were confident there'd be a Democrat sweep last year, and look where we ended up.

Sadly... yeah.

All I can say is: I hope the 90 million who abstained get up off their lazy ******* asses this time.

Automatic voter registration, and mandatory voting would solve those problems.

I don't know why you think a solid majority of apathetic people are going to necessarily vote for the right people. Also if you make voting "mandatory" but don't solve the problem of overcrowded polling stations in urban areas, all you've done is give the right another law they can arrest thousands of minorities for violating—in this case by standing in line all day and failing to get inside before the polls close.

Mandatory voting would mean putting into place infrastructure to account for the maximum number of voters, as opposed to the minimum they currently do. Automatic voter registration would mean voter roll purges would be harder because all the people kicked off the rolls would, upon their next interaction with the federal government, get re-added to the rolls.

It would also mean that the people trying to undercut those functions would automatically be in the wrong, no matter the rhetoric they spout.

It would mean changing how voting is done at its core in the US. And not on the counting side, on the logistics and interactive side.
