wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

He's also a petty, mean, vindictive person. So he's backing down now; but using the MASSIVE LEVER of the US presidency to lean on them later. He'll break every deal that gets made: and use the threat of that as additional leverage against individuals.

Trump is a wargames scenario. The only way to win is to not play. Unfortunately, we blew that ******* chance in November.

Nope, he's still lying. But it's a weak lie. constitution stands between him and the kingdom he desperately wants: so he will kill it as soon as it's viable.

Because our schools' biggest problem isn't ever-shrinking budgets, it's the unnecessary burden of having to treat everyone equally.

You know at first I was kinda angry myself at this. Like is this the beginning of the end of segregation for schools in the South? Are we seeing the first salvos shot at Brown vs. Board of Education? Then I kept reading.

The Trump administration called the Plaquemines case an example of administrative neglect. The district in the Mississippi River Delta Basin in southeast Louisiana was found to have integrated in 1975, but the case was to stay under the court’s watch for another year. The judge died the same year, and the court record “appears to be lost to time,” according to a court filing.

“Given that this case has been stayed for a half-century with zero action by the court, the parties or any third-party, the parties are satisfied that the United States’ claims have been fully resolved,” according to a joint filing from the Justice Department and the office of Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill.

Ironbite-I'm all for sounding alarms when Trump et al does things but I'm not sure this is something to be screaming about.

I assume he either saw The Rock or he met Michael Bay who told him he couldn't have Optimus so he's settling.

The man does love movies yet tends to wildly miss the point, so it's possible that this is exactly what happened.

Just another thing to prove to me that our country is doomed:
I have a coworker that works in the ER. He randomly brought up politics with a stupid racial joke: “Trump said he’s going to deport all the Mexicans, Juan by Juan”.
This guy is a self professed Republican and…he’s OF Mexican descent. Even speaks Spanish! He further goes on about how bad he thinks Trump is as a person…but still, SOMEHOW, thinks Trump wants what’s best for the country. He just doesn’t agree with how haphazardly he’s doing it. His remark on voting was “I didn’t vote for Trump, I voted for Kamala’s opponent”. Jeezus ******* Christ, it took EVERY OUNCE of my will not to tear into him: He voted for Trump, period. He shoulders some amount of blame for what’s going on and will happen in the coming months and years. Just because he couldn’t bring himself to vote for a Democrat, a woman, or both.

While not a devout Christian by ANY stretch, I was raised with very Christian tenets under the Lutheran flavor. The dark, evil, UNchristian part of my brain immediately wants him (and many of my coworkers, many who are or are married to Mexican or Mexican descendants) to have an ICE raid set upon them. Because I firmly believe most of these people don’t get, or don’t WANT to get, what’s actually going on here Until it happens to them.
Even then…I feel the “Republican conditioning” is too strong to really make a difference for generations, if ever.

Lord knows if it weren’t for my medical needs and the jive-pay I get, I probably would have left Oklahoma years ago.

Oh lord, he’s going after the animes!

tl;dr:
Hollywood is “dying” (despite steady recovery since the pandemic and over $30 BILLION in revenue last year), and to save it, Trump has slapped tariffs on “foreign made movies”. Now, does that count streaming? Does it include international filming by American Studios? Will the tariffs be on production costs or revenues?
Who the hug knows, but dammit he’s making a deal of…something. As usual, industry experts, fearing reprisals from international partners, are citing these tariffs as potentially devastating to the very industry the tariffs are supposedly to help.

FFS, then nothing from Japan (and Korea and so on) will get English language international releases, because those are no longer going to be viable without the US market.

He ended woke, but Hollywood is still dying, so the real cause must be something that tariffs can fix. Because tariffs can fix anything.
