Studio Series discussion

I went on a lovely vacation last week, but sadly I missed the pre-orders for the Elite Seeker/Ground Trooper. The wiki says this are Target exclusive, so maybe there's a chance I can find it in stores. I'm super bummed. I've been obsessing over this set since it was revealed. It's one of two recent reveals that I really want to get my hands on.

in my experience, Target almost always stocks their exclusives in store, even if it's a bit later than the official release date
Except for Red Card exclusives. But I think Selects Red Wing was the only one of those.

Road Rage was also online exclusive.
Was she a Red Card exclusive or just a normal Target.com exclusive? I honestly don't remember.

Likewise, as best I can recall, she was a red card exclusive. I'm pretty sure I remember having to get her off eBay because I didn't have a red card at the time.

Got SS TFO Sentinel Prime. He's a bit short for a Voyager but you feel the budget. Chunky, thick plastic, packed engineering. All around pretty great.

His height isn't even that much of an issue since he scales with a "risen to Prime status" TFO Optimus pretty nicely.

Hm. Was looking forward to that one specifically for the height since the Prime Changer was firmly Deluxe size.

Also interested in finally getting a Que (funny how he's billed as "Wheeljack (Que)" on the box) now that the wave is starting to come out, but I wonder what options there might be for an alternate head.

Even back in the DOTM days I was more heavily considering the Wheeljack retool (despite its own odd head, and being yet another Wheeljack) because I just couldn't with that Einstein-ish sculpt that had a mustache that looked like teeth and a bald cap that looked like a bulging skull. Then it got canned, and by the time Movie Advanced came along that was also a bit more work to get than I cared for at the time.

And the current one looks like a great improvement bodywise, but does an excellent Studio Series job of replicating a headsculpt I'm not a fan of.

In the reveal stream, Evan said they labeled him as such on purpose to make his name as confusing as possible, just to playfully mess with us.

I personally also find it hilarious since a bunch of folks have been whining about the wiki continuing to keep DOTM Que and Bumblebee movie Wheeljack on the same "Wheeljack (Movie)" article instead of moving it to "Que" and splitting out Bee movie Wheeljack either into his own article or merging it with ROTB Wheeljack, citing DOTM Mirage/Dino's article being moved to just "Dino" when the Studio Series toy released with the name "Dino" while "Mirage (Movie)" changed to being about ROTB Mirage when he came along.

But the thing is, Que was created to be a movieverse version of the traditional Wheeljack character, being an inventor and gadget expert just run through the typical irreverent lens of the Michael Bay movie designs, whereas Dino being named "Mirage" by Hasbro was more of a trademarking nameslap, with the only Mirage-likes aspects of the character being an invisibility ability in some games and such. The prominence of ROTB Mirage also played a role in that decision, whereas BB Wheeljack was a footnote of an easter egg and ROTB Wheeljack was singled out by Steven Caple, Jr. as being a new character altogether. Que even had some very Wheeljack-looking toys and a very Wheeljack-esque design in the DOTM prequel comics, with in-universe explanation for his change in design between those comics and the movie.

And then we get this Studio Series toy that literally says "Que = Wheeljack", so nyeh! :p

tl:dr - It's FINE to leave DOTM Que and BB Wheeljack on the same "Wheeljack (Movie)" page, ya Geewhinin' Bay haters!

Except the Bumblebee movie is a different continuity than the Bay films; it's in the RotB continuity. They should be separate pages and it has nothing to do with "geewhining bay haters"

In the very least the RotB version should be in the same page, given the RotF, BB and RotB Arcee's are all on the same page.

You do realize that's exactly like saying that the Marvel and cartoon versions of the G1 characters should be separate pages just because the comics and cartoon are separate continuities from each other, too, right? You're confusing "continuity" with "continuity family".

ROTB Wheeljack was singled out by Steven Caple, Jr. as being a new character altogether.
And even then, ROTB Wheeljack can't be the same guy as BB Wheeljack because the latter was characterized by Steve Blum as a gruff older character while the former was characterized by Cristo Fernández as a younger character. Unless you're Benjamin Button, aging doesn't work backwards.
