I want Trump publicly asked what Canada needs to do to stop the tariffs.
According to his last social media post, all Canada needs to do is submit themselves as the 51st state. Otherwise the tariffs will continue.

Last time he was asked, he said he's not looking for concessions and nothing can stop it.

Is a state allowed to have several provinces?

Last time he was asked, he said he's not looking for concessions and nothing can stop it.

I thought he originally said the two together were because of immigration and fentanyl, but I didn't feel like Canada had much responsibility for either one.

The..*ahem*…”reason” he cited was that immigrants and terrorists were flooding over the Canadian border with fentanyl.

But I’m inclined to say that Canada’s border and travel policies are no worse than the US’s, so…

IF Canada became part of the US it would almost definitely be split into multiple states. As it is it would become a blue state and the Republicans can't have that, especially given their slim margins in Congress. Not that Canada would agree to merge with the US anyway.

Come on, if Canada was forcibly annexed by the US, like it’d be allowed to become a state, or states. It’d be made some territory with limited federal voting rights at best.

(I’m wondering if King Charles gets regularly updated on this crisis by one of his aides – “yes sir, I’m afraid that vulgar orange man still wants to take over that other country of yours, yes, the freezing cold one”.)

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

SAVE act is making a return. Democrats will never win an election again.

The Stock markets started to drop from the tariffs, then went back up again after Mexico announced they were paused for a month. Apparently Canada doesn't matter to the Dow, or they at least don't think he's serious. Face-eating leopard time for the stock market soon, methinks?
“Call us deluded, but we still think that permanent tariffs on the U.S.‘s allies (Canada, Mexico) will not be a thing,” said Thierry Wizman, global FX and rates strategist at Macquarie. “That’s because concessions are an ‘easier’ way to deal with Trump’s ‘problems’ (from a cost-benefit and game-theoretic perspective), and Trump likes to make ‘deals’. Political and market pressure will also weigh on the parties to make concessions, as in 2018.”

Also from that link, Trump's planning to put tariffs on the entire EU.

But that isn't what Canadians want. We were specifically told that they want to be the 51st state.

It is bad, but the modern American system prevents "X will never win an election again" because the parties gave up foundational ideology a long time ago. If it passes, the Democrats will just change their platform.

FB friend:
It's bad enough that the Orange POS thinks we should become part of the US, but he thinks that if we did, we would be just one state. Imagine that: 3.8 million square miles and 41 million people ... just one state.

But of course he wouldn't choose a reasonable number, because a more reasonable number would be at least 10 states, if not 20 or 30. And then we would promptly become an utterly dominant political force in America.

He wants to take Canada and treat it as a puppet nation.

Agreed, but even if it were to be split up, the most logical ways for such a split to take place would likely still end up advantaging Democrats over Republicans. Like so much of his agenda, the orange either hasn't thought this through, or he's not really serious anyway (likely because his true agenda vis-a-vis Canada is something else).

I go back and forth whether he is creates distractions to do sleight of hand or whether he is just bumbling around all over the place and often someone can help him to make something useful out of what he does.
