Musk and Trump are getting along now likely because Putin has dirt on both of them that they REALLY don't want getting out. I'm pretty sure they both actually hate each other. It will likely end as soon as Putin feels that one of them is no longer useful to him(likely as soon as Musk's financial empire implodes, or Trump's second term comes to an end) Or until Putin dies(assuming that happens before Orange Force One croaks)

All those "I hate Wall Street" Trump supporters have said for years that white-collar crimes should be punished more harshly, but when their orange leader was convicted of a white-collar crime, all of them rose up in unison to say "that doesn't count, it's not a real crime".

I suspect that Trump's plan to implement his agenda is to expand the power of his office by basically holding the country and its allies hostage. If he writes a series of wildly unreasonable executive orders which could do incalculable damage, he can then offer to rescind those orders if Congress agrees to change certain rules in his favour.

People ask why Trump is interested in Greenland as if it's some mystery. It's no mystery. Greenland looks big on the map. That's it. Don't overestimate Trump's thinking process. He just wants America to look huge on the map and be the biggest country in the world. Annexing Canada and Greenland would do that. He's a 78-year old toddler.

Trump isn't the only one saying it. I was totally uninformed about it just a week or so ago, but the Arctic Ocean is becoming navigable and China and Russia are both operating up there. The world map that we are used to looking at has had its accuracy enforced by ice on the Arctic Ocean. Take that away and Greenland is right by Canada and Russia and Europe. Greenland is a terrority of a little European country self-ruling with a tiny population living in an unimportant wilderness. The majority of Canada might as well be a territory of actual Canada, also unused because it is mainly unuseful. Both are going to become a lot more important. The people telling Trump that are right. They are just giving him the wrong lesson. The correct lesson is thank goodness they belong to our NATO allies Canada and Denmark, who are always going to have our backs and we're going to have theirs. We have a base in Greenland right now and we are allowed to patrol in the Arctic Ocean north of Canada right now because both nations know their security is tied to ours. It's time to forge stronger ties to Canada and Denmark, not try to bully them, which isn't going to work.

Until you realize the goal is to weaken the US, and allow for aggressor nations to start conquering their neighbours again.

OH look, china is building barges that seem to be design to transport tanks onto beaches... hmmm.

With any luck Johnson pisses off enough of the non-maga republicans that they stage a coup and remove him from his position. There comes a time when you really should put your country above your chances of being re-elected.

Just saw something that we all already knew enough to put together, but I hadn't and maybe you hadn't either.

I have been interacting with Facebook memes about how tariffs are going to bring manufacturing back and I keep telling people that we don't manufacture in China because it is 10% cheaper, so a 10% tariff increase isn't going to make American manufacturing the smart money. They'll just pay the tariff and pass it on.

But Elon Musk has this nebulous presence in the 47 administration and I hadn't thought about it in a while, but he says he'll be able to make 1 million Telsa Optimus in 2027. You never know on timeline with Elon, but they estimate a price tag of $20-30,000 on those which is much cheaper than I would have thought. It isn't a good enough deal to get one to mow my lawn, but these guys are going to be stocking groceries...before much longer. They can definitely do jobs in a factory that a traditional robot cannot because of their versatility. It really could be that there will suddenly not be labor anywhere in the world that can be bought as cheap as Optimus.
