Pitch a Transformers Generations-Style Toyline

These are always fun.

I was inspired by ideas floating around in one of the other threads and decided to flesh them out for fun.

My Concept: It's time to really play up the "Robots In Disguise" concept more than it has been in a long time. Vehicles and things kids could see outside their bedroom window Transformed into a strange new world. This line is designed to create a modern City where nothing is what it seems, and secret Cybertronians are everywhere.

Transformers: Secret City

ZacWilliam, ok, I know a ton of weird and unlikely ideas there but I really wanted to go "out of the box" with the whole concept. All new characters too of course. Cause why not as long as I'm daydreaming.

Return of the Beast Wars!

Preview 2 pack: Voyager class aligator Megatron vs deluxe class bat Optimus Primal

Core class
Maximals: Lemur, Squirrel (robot mode homages Squirrel Girl), Parrot (possible robot mode homage to GI Joe Shipwreck), chameleon, peacock
Predacons: weasel, compy, hyena, chihuahua, red panda, jackalope (not a real animal, but that'd be hilarious)

Deluxe class
Maximals: Nyx (new head on deluxe bat Primal), anteater, dolphin (possibly G1 Seaspray), Dominus Ambus as an earth fox, bengal tiger
Predacons: Skold, black wolf, vulture, G1 Slugfest (matching aesthetics to Classics Overkill), lioness

Voyager class
Maximals: hippo, bull (possibly BM Longhorn), kangaroo, camel, pelican
Predacons: crocodile (slight retool of alligator Megatron with GI Joe Croc Master head), Soundwave as a golden eagle (robot mode based off Prime Soundwave instead of G1), orca, ostrich, komodo dragon

Leader class
Maximals: elephant (still Ironhide, but do the character and animal justice with the robot mode), humpback whale
Predacons: anaconda, ankylosaurus (any big dinosaur will do, honestly, just imagining a giant red and tan version based off a toy I had as a kid)

Commander class
No concrete ideas for this, but possibly use the old BW combiner idea and have 3 deluxes come together

Titan class
Megabolt Megatron from BM (no weird spider legs, really emphasize him as a ship, possibly including miniature BM Maximals like Nemesis had the Seekers)

Selects exclusives
Onyx Primal (repaint of bat Optimus)

Transformers: Scramble City, or
Transformers: Bring Back Micro Play Already, or
Transformers: damn, lastmaximal had way too much fun with this
Featuring simple base bodies with big pretooling/reshelling potential, and taking some inspiration from TFVanguard's old "Spychanger City" concept of small bots coming with parts to build base/bots.

  • Very G1-heavy, but trying to bring in G1-adjacent universes and characters. So there's some RID 2001/2015, some Movie, some UT, some Animated. Didn't go into beasts just yet, outside the Insecticons (not even Dinobots, I belatedly realize).
  • As a result there's a bit of a Legacy Evolution "throw whatever will have a good G1 pretool/retool in there" vibe, but the more I wrote on this the more I felt a late-IDW "Council of Worlds" thing going on.
  • Basically the old Cyberverse, with base size Legion being where most current Deluxes go, Scout (Commander) being bigger and thus the current-tall-Deluxe and some Voyager home, and Deluxes being Scouts + extra stuff (or 3-packs of Legions, or 2-packs of Scouts).
  • Legion, Scout, Deluxe all a LITTLE bit pricier/roomier budget than usual, but lots of aggressive mold reuse via redecoing and retooling.
  • All bases come with 3mm and 5mm pegholes and emplacements. Everyone comes with at least one such weapon.
  • Voyagers are basebots split into 3 packs. Some modularity fun might enable mixing and matching across waves, maybe. Maybe these can also have Cyberjet-style pressure-activated launchers. Each pack comes with a ramp and a Legion class figure, typically a redeco or retool but sometimes debuting a new mold because even in my fantasies, toy retail is maddening.
  • Leader class is a sprawling, simple playset (think the usual Turtles playsets with simple fixtures and lots of expected play value), mostly modular with pieces that can be laid out and perhaps interconnected. Some action features. Comes with a Legion or Scout class figure (or two).
  • Titan class is parts count gone mad, but man imagine this just consuming your whole play area...

TITAN CLASS:
Scramble City

(Not sure whether to call this the IDW-style unaffiliated "Metrotitan", or just "Scramble City", on the packaging. Or "Metrotitan: the Scramble City" Or "The Mall From Botbots".)

Essentially Metroplex made of smaller modular combiners, like if each Earthrise Modulator also formed a bigger robot's limb/part of a torso (or slotted into a skeletal frame similar to Legacy Menasor's limbs). This hearkens back to the supposed original marketing concept for Scramble City, which was that the city could split up into multiple robots, Autobots and Decepticons. (I stumbled upon this tweet recently, and I think it's been on my mind the whole time I've been jotting down these ideas for this line.) Here this will be represented by the chests of these modular combiner pieces having flip-around panels to show an Autobot or Decepticon sigil. Picture the modular bots combining into the full citybot to join the battle, and it's a race to put more of the pieces under Autobot or Decepticon control before the combining finishes...

Each of these will Modulator-like form their own robot mode, and then combine to form the whole city/robot. IDK, just hope for good solid pegs and stiff ratchet joints.
  • Upper torso: Sixgun emplacement/missile battery/Scamper garage with ramp
  • Lower torso: hub for bridges/roadway panels coming and going to other bases
  • R arm: towers, capture cells
  • L arm: towers, capture cells/Slammer emplacement
  • R leg: takeoff runway/rocket bay (also, the city's bridges/straight roadway panels stack)
  • L leg: takeoff runway/rocket bay (also, the city's bridges/straight roadway panels stack)
Includes Scamper, Delta Magnus and Galvatron II.
