They're not doing that. Again, you see Gadget very briefly fighting alongside Chip in the trailer, flying their plane like she always used to.

It wouldn't be "getting away with it" if it's a fully licensed cameo. If the character has more than a "blink and you'll miss it" scene, then it might even be considered a prestigious cameo, as it's her work above many other contenders that gets to be seen as an ambassador for the entire medium.

I'm four episodes in now, and I think it's fine. It certainly won't set the world on fire and be a revolutionary rallying point as its namesake, but it's inoffensive. It remixes things just enough to be familiar while still having some new things to show long-term fans of the series, but...

Two things between the photography and the renders - the renders tint all the details beneath the windows more blue than they actually become in real life, giving a different impression. And then in the photography, the Matrix is left out of the chest cavity for some reason, so you don't get...

Are we highlighting paint chips? Because that's pretty common on this pre-release photography, if you give them close enough looks. They're all hand-painted samples, so the paint goes on extra thick and doesn't bond as well as the factory paint.

I think the ones on his shoulders might be the real tires. You can see the arms wadded up inside the cab. The ones on his back, then, would be the spares. Which is in fact the accurate mounting location for spares on these types of vehicles.

Animated, for the time being, simply doesn't fit with their strategies going forward. They want multi-purpose toolings that can potentially find new life down the road. Animated reduxes proper can only be used for Animated.
