David Wise, Writer Of Classic G1 Transformers, Star Trek Animated Series, TMNT, And More Passes Away

In a bit of sad news, legendary writer David Wise passed away from Lung Cancer. Read on to see more information on this man’s career.

Like many of you reading this article, I will always remember David Wise from his work on the G1 series. I remember watching his interviews on the special features of the G1 season 4 DVDs, and listening to how he had to write the very truncated fourth and final season of the G1 cartoon series.Check that interview out below:

In addition to writing those episodes, he wrote a tremendous amount of now iconic episodes for Transformers such as Attack of the Autobots, Day of the Machines, Microbots, Make Tracks, The Secret of Omega Supreme, Kremzeek!, Auto-Bop, The Girl Who Loved Powerglide, The Key to Vector Sigma, Parts 1 and 2, War Dawn, and Trans-Europe Express.  In those classic episodes, David Wise literally wrote the origin for Optimus Prime, Elita 1, the Aerialbots, the Stunticons, and Omega Supreme. You could say that we owe a great deal of our fandom to his writing.
In addition to that, you can check out his IMDB page and see all the other great work he has done from Star Trek the animated series (Getting the series’ only Emmy) to Heman and the Masters of the Universe to the 90’s TMNT series and much more. I would highly recommend checking it out to see how many of your childhood series were written in part by David Wise. You might be surprised to find out how many!
