Authentics with Elbows – Hasbro Toy Shop Reveals 7″ Authentics Lineup
Thanks to Allspark user Nevermore, we have a look at some new developments in the Transformers: Authentics lineup, featuring Optimus Prime and Bumblebee at a larger scale and with greater articulation. An “evergreen”-styled value chain line, Authentics may be replacing the familiar repackaged Generations Legends-class figures of classic characters common at discount retailers.
Recently listed on Hasbro Toy Shop, Target.com, and others, Transformers Authentics items follow the unified “evergreen” styling applied to generic merchandise meant to outlive any particular current mainline (like RiD or Power of the Primes), a set of designs that have appeared on everything from Valentine’s cards to cruises. Child friendly and simple to transform, and very large for their price point, the Authentics lineup probably won’t be of much interest to many collectors, but might be ideal for some children.
While the initial Authentics lineup of Optimus, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Megatron, and Starscream had been reported previously, it seems that Grimlock occupies a 7″ line in contrast to the others’ 4.5″ (for reference, the Generations Legends and Deluxe price points are roughly 3.75″ and 6″ respectively.) The 4.5″ lineup is listed at $4.99, though the 7″ price point isn’t available at online retail yet.
Further, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee come in both flavors, their larger counterparts featuring the same sculpts and transformation, but offering a couple of additional paint applications and ball-jointed elbows over the 4.5″ versions:

Nevermore also notes that based on the SKU numbers, these figures appear to explain the mysterious “Project Storm” listings seen in prior leaks. You can see his post and join the conversation on the Allspark Forums.
