What madness is this?Maybe with World Cup fever in full swing, they wanted to get a piece of the action. Looking at the episode's YouTube title, "Cyber-WORLD Cup 2026: Team Optimus vs Dinobots!", yeah. That's gotta be it.The description for episode 31, "Alley-O.P.", reads as follows:Check it out here:[MEDIA=youtube]V5SFBHzXtQc[/MEDIA]And of course, here's my spoiler-y recap/review:[spoiler]When last we left off, Mirage was trying to convince Chop Shop to help him find another <s>boost device</s> "special rock". What happened there? Who knows? We're thrown into a Cyberworld game that features two teams of four. Optimus opts to leave Wheeljack out of this one, so it's him, Bumblebee, Elita-1, and Airachnid against a team of Grimlock, Snarl, Mirage, and Chop Shop. Well, they're still getting along, at least.Oh, remember my confusion before at Airachnid being labeled a Decepticon on the box? Well, apparently she still is! Or was. Or something. Cyberworld makes for strange alliances, so maybe she threw in with Elita's group. In any case, it seems like this is doubling as a team-building exercise, though OP and Airachnid let each other know they're keeping their eyes on the other.The game is basically sort of a basketball/Rocket League hybrid, with power-ups and obstacles/items on the court, like ramps. Still amazes me that we haven't heard word one about a video game version of the most video game adaptation-friendly incarnation of the franchise in over 40 years.Airachnid takes the ball and scores a point, and Prime reminds her of teamwork. She's like "Fine, whatever." Elita and Airachnid show they still work together well, at least, with the former fist-bumping one of the latter's spider-legs to good effect. Airachnid also passes the ball to OP when she's surrounded by Mirage's holographic clones, so she seems to have a pretty good handle on working with others, all things considered.Grimlock wants Snarl to take control as he converts to mech mode, but Chop Shop beats the Dinobot/Junkion/whatever to the cockpit. Optimus suffers one of those flashbacks, which allows the Dinobot/Insecticon duo to score, and Grimlock has a hearty laugh at their accomplishment... before warning Choppy to never do that again, lest he go squish now.As this is going on, Wheeljack is working outside with one eye on the game, and Cyberworld seems to start acting funky. He says that's not him, and starts to get worried. The boost device seems to start to make a break for it before he catches it, and Wheeljack is now even more concerned, though nevertheless fascinated by this.Bumblebee checks on OP as he has another episode, but Airachnid not only recongizes exactly what he's going through, but also the basic procedure for how to fix it (at least for now, and minus the stick). That got a good little chuckle out of me.Airachnid then hypnotizes or otherwise convinces Chop Shop to give up the ball to her (to the dismay of his team), and she hands it off to OP, telling him to lead "your -- our team".Together, the four score the winning point and gain more energon. OP thanks Airachnid, and asks if she can check the memory flashes he's been having. She agrees, "to make peace and support the team."Then we get a fast pan across the landscape to... Galvatron? Hey, been a while since we saw him. Dun-dun...So, this is another episode that's light on story developments, but not devoid of it. Still, the main focus seemed to be to integrate Airachnid into the team, and for that, I really enjoyed this. She's shot up to one of my favorite characters in this show, and probably my favorite version of Airachnid ever (at least to date). She just feels like a bot I'd have a good time hanging out with.Hope that Galvatron bit isn't going to be some sort of ominous foreshadowing about her true allegiances or anything, though.[/spoiler]So, what did you think?
