Yeah, I get that. Like you though, I just can't shake the feeling that he'll be given the proper remake treatment in the not-too-distant future ("he tell me!!" J/k).
I agree. I would be VERY pleased with this one too, if I had skipped Stege.
I’d been using the unofficial FOC Shockwave pictured with him as my main Shockwave as he ends up around as tall as the SS86 faction leaders but decided to pick this up because my girlfriend liked the shade of purple and he can always play the role of Bruticus’ gun. He’s not bad but he feels really barebones, not helped by the fact that we know for a fact that this is indeed a stripped down version of a more complex toy.
Well, for one, that one seems dead.
Baldigus's Hulk Hands have been left in the sun too long and he's BIG MAD ABOUT IT.
Looking at the old Hasbro RiD Ruination makes me realize that I've never seen someone attempt to cobble together a cartoon-colors-accurate version by giving that combiner the tan-colored Armorhide and gold combiner kibble pieces from the Universe Ruination set.
I once tried to do the opposite with the CW/UW molds, making a Ruination out of Baldigus. After acquiring a Baldigus, I painted up bootlegs of Brawl and Onslaught into the colors of Hasbro's Armorhide and Mega-Octane, who were the main distinctly-colored ones. Always really liked the visual of that ice blue tank.
Alas, never got to combine them or even take a group photo in the years since, and both got cleared out along with most of the customizing-years stuff last December.

I spent quite a while last night digging through crates and bags trying to find Midnight Express's yellow missile before finally giving up and declaring it lost. This afternoon, when I transformed him back to train mode, I discovered it was just sitting in his leg. Guess I must have tossed it in there for storage at some point.

That's not Shockwave, that Ultra Shockwave when he in his experiment yelled out "POWER EXTREME!!!" and got a load of equipment beamed onto him
Lucky guy! That's the (Point)blank(er) I'm hoping to pick up.
I'm kinda torn on if I want him. I like the old head, but I like the deco of the new one better.
I wonder how difficult it would be to swap heads.
No Starscream. But definitely a worthwhile get.

Get a second one. You can call one Pointblank, and the other one can be Counterpoint, his brother who has really complicated explanations for things. (With lots of overlapping layers to each explanation.)(and I'll stop before it becomes any more of a music geek dad joke . . . )
