We're less than a month away from the release of Skybound's Transformers Compendium, Volume 1 trade paperback, and -- well, "trade" is kind of a funny term in this case. At least, if you think about the word in terms of "trading" it to someone else.
This volume encompasses roughly half of the original Marvel Comics run of what we now retroactively refer to as "Generation 1." That's The Transformers #1-46, as well as the complete four-issue The Transformers: Headmasters miniseries, and amounts to roughly 1,200 pages.
So, you might be wondering, "Just how much is that? How tall is a book with 1,200 pages?"
Well, to answer your question, we've got Simon Furman, with possibly one of the most Simon Furman-esque answers to the question, per the picture he posted to SMOKAT of his advance copy:
As you can see, it's just under one Head tall.
And yes, this entire post exists purely in service to that joke. Don't take this from me. I've had a long weekend.
Says the man himself, "Now THAT is a doorstop-sized* read! #Transformers #skybound *Death's Head figure for scale, yes?"
If you're interested in acquiring one of these bad-boys for yourself (and remember, this is only around half the 80-issue-plus-mini-series run), then you still have time to scrounge up $64.99 before its June 10th release.
Think you've got enough room for the full run on your shelf?
Thanks to David Minter for the tip!
