My Middle child helped me transform them and then combine them. It was really neat as she was having a blast trying to figure them out.

This one is damaged, but he was very cheap because of it, and I was considering getting the upgrade kit to replace the lion head. However, if you are looking at it straight on or from above, you can't see the missing mouth.

Not having transformed or combined this set before, I can say that it felt more like a Power Rangers toy than a TF combiner. That is not a bad thing, as I definitely prefer the set in Combined mode over their Robot or Alt modes.

The hard part is going to be re-arranging my entire shelf wall to try to find a place for him. Maybe it's time that I opened my horde that has grown out of control and rearrange everything.

That's an impressive opening list. I went through a time when I didn't have a place to display my collection so I didn't see a need to open my figures until I had room to put them. The pile grew to a similar stack to what you have there. My recommendation would be to try to only open a few at a time so you get a chance to appreciate them. I made the mistake of opening the ENTIRE pile in one day. While it was total excitement doing that massive opening, I feel like I missed out on messing around with all of the figures individually.

My horde of unopened TFs that I need to get to and then rearrange my entire collection.
This makes me feel a bit better about how I've been living my life.
It has gone from a horde to Hoarding at this point.....
This reminds me that there's nothing to feel that much better about, because this is too true. It really is. And I need to reckon with that at some point.

This is good advice. It's nice to have a semiregular (but it does have to at least be semiregular) opening schedule, like 1-2 a week so it's still loose and fun and not a chore. Maybe take a pic of each as it's happening, nothing fancy, so you get an ancillary dopamine hit of sharing it. (One of the things I'd like to eventually do is set up space for a lightbox that's more or less always up, so periodic opening of stuff can lead to a decent picture.) I've never had occasion to do it the way Gizmoboy did, but I imagine the returns must start diminishing fairly quickly and soon it starts to feel a bit like work.

The only problem with opening them a few at a time is that I need to move the stack to setup more display room to display the collection. Most of my shelf wall is the extensive CHUG set that I have been slowing buying upgrades for in the past 7 years or so. I was planning on condensing those down to one large shelf in a battle like scene, and then using the rest of the area for the newer stuff. It's just a matter of getting the time now.

All good advice re: triaging the opening of toys. I'm in a similar situation, in that I usually have to rotate in newer figures because I don't have the space (or desire) to display everything all at once.

The rule that I make for myself when inventory is thick, is that I will try to open a smattering of things from each "era". What I mean is, if I have a few things that I know I got earlier in the year, or even the year prior, I will try to start with those. Then I fold in a few that are slightly newer, and I end on something that is much more recent. This helps me remember why I bought certain toys, and helps me appreciate them more than if they were just "something to open before the next thing."

The only other pattern that I have, is that a fellow toy collecting friend and I usually do a Toy Night every couple of months. For these, I will generally cherry pick items according to the old/middle/new pattern from above, except I generally will bring over a "finisher"; something that is epic in size/scale/scope (recently, this was Titan Nemesis).

I open everything immediately, but unfortunately, do NOT find a place for them on the shelf immediately. Right now, things have been super duper crazy (work is running at somewhere between 1.5 and 2 times the normal volume of stuff that passes through, and I have a whole thing going on outside of work with having to clear out an old house that's full of stuff while also dealing with that same house having been repeatedly burglarized), so all non-critical hobby-type things have taken a back seat. As such, my home office floor is riddled with homeless Transformers. Luckily(?) work has been far to busy to try to do it from home anyway, so it hasn't been an issue.

I used to have a pretty substantial backlog of stuff to open. It was partially due to lack of time to get to everything, and partially that I liked having new stuff to open when I needed a bit of a pick-me-up. These days, unless I just got a big order in (e.g. BBTS pile of loot), I rarely have more than a couple things waiting to be opened for two simple reasons:
  1. I've had a few instances where toys had QC issues that would warrant a replacement, but it was too late to do so. A panel simply being completely missing on my MPM Blackout was a fairly substantial downer. Realizing Hasbro had been out of stock for many months before I ever discovered it was much worse.
  2. I had a sewage backup in my basement a few years back. Honestly, we were really lucky in terms of what was lost and what got through it unscathed, but that has really stuck with me. Now, I want everything to either go up on a display shelf or into a safe storage crate pretty much right away.

I picked up the Cyberworld Starscream done off of the simplified Turbo Changer TLK Megatron... and Viking Berserker Starscream is certainly a mood.

The really cool thing is that if you fold his wings in while in jet mode, and attach his energon attachments the right way, you turn him into a boat that smaller Cyberworld figures can ride. It's a really clever bit of engineering to make an older mould backwards compatible with the line.
