While Quickstrike's love of violence was welcomed among the Combaticons, they all agreed that if they ever hear another "snake in my boot" joke again, they're going to skin him alive.

Why is the new one mirrored in where the limbs go?
The G1 figure in my picture has the limbs arranged the way the G1 toy instructions said they should go, and the way most* media that has featured him has shown him. For Victory Dinoking, Takara chose to swap the limbs to the opposite side, which the G1 toy supports. IDW 2005 then applied that Dinoking limb arrangement to Monstructor, making him have the opposite arrangement from how Monstructor is usually depicted.

Fast forward to recent times, and the Core Volcanicus (with obvious Dinoking pretool) was arranged following Dinoking. Unlike the G1 toys, however, the limbs were NOT made to be swappable on this iteration. Technically, you can swap them. However, the hands and feet cannot be swapped between limb bots, meaning that the hands would be backwards and the feet would have those outer protrusions clashing with each other between his feet. The leg joints are also offset to allow him to stand with his legs straight, so swapping them would also move his legs very close together, where they get in the way of each other easily.

Since none of that stuff was retooled for the new Monstructor, he's stuck in the IDW 2005 configuration, opposite of everything else. That might actually be why they retooled his head, to explicitly make him the IDW version, justifying the limb arrangement.

*Most in the sense that most incarnations of Monstructor have his limbs arranged like the G1 toy. This disregards the fact that IDW 2005 probably accounts for the vast majority of Monstructor media appearances in existance.

You know, of all the SS86 reissues coming out nixing the clear plastics “for the sake of durability,” they completely nerfed the one that needed it the most.😒

So… actual SS86 Jazz reissue anytime ever? I’m holding onto this 5-pack version for dear life and treating it like damn family heirloom, cus good luck ever finding a replacement for it for under $200.🫠

Thank you! The armored T-rex and Triceratops came just like that, no paint or anything added. And due to the tail clubs/spikes, I sort of head-canoned them as having the DNA from ALL the old shells, sort of merged remnants when the Dinoforce got improved Beast Modes that they spliced together and kept as pets.

I figure the DinoForce, not being the brightest bulbs, have utterly failed to notice that they've created something unnatural and highly dangerous. They think they've invented the cutest base-pets ever. The fact that they're totally solid and can ram right through a wall is a little weird but hasn't raised any flags. Deathsaurus doesn't intervene, he has no objection to pets, he just keeps his own well away from them.

Great, now I want to get that new Starscream.
I was going to pass on the SS '86 Seeker mould entirely, as I am quite happy with the ER versions, and even prefer a lot of the aesthetic aspects of ER. Still, Starscream is one of my favourite characters, so I bit when I found him in Target.

I like him. The engineering is very clever and fun, and he poses nicely... butttttt I still like the ER version better. I just prefer its detailing and aesthetic choices to SS '86's Sunbow styles. So I won't be getting the rest of the SS '86 Seekers, but I'm glad I have this Starscream, if that makes sense.
