That's awesome! I never got the black one. Weirdly, years ago when WalMart had both colors and they were on sale, I heard a ten year old telling his mother "But Unicron didn't look like that in the movie!" At the time, there was only ONE Transformers movie ever, and I was shocked to heard a kid saying that, so I looked and this little boy and his mother were looking at Energon Unicron. So I said Unicron actually appeared in a few things after in different colors, and I pulled an Armada colored one off the top shelf to show them the difference. He spotted it as the 'right' one and the lady said "Oh, do you like Transformers?"

Blockbuster still had it for regular rental on VHS and DVD at the time.
My dad got so tired of me wanting to rent it all the time that he just copied the tape. Then he only had to rent it again when I wore out the copy and it was time for a new one.
If Cyclospora is still around at Christmas, I might leave Santa lettuce, and then there might be a LOT of presents for everyone!

I passed that so many times at Kay-Bee toys back in the day. I regret not getting it.
I got the black version, as I have a thing for getting the "final" versions of characters, I guess you could say. The final/ultimate form, so to speak.

Wow, this threat brings back memories...my KayBee always had Machine Wars, a G2 Optimus, and a G2 Megatron tucked away on a top shelf. I wonder if somewhere in an abandoned wharehouse they're still there, yelling "Megatron attack!" "I am Optimus Prime!" "Megatron attack!" "I am Optimus Prime!" over and over at each other in the dark as Machine Wars Optimus wonders what life is like outside the box, and if he really does have a mouth or not, he's never seen himself...

Funny enough, I came across a place selling a Thunderclash in a beat-up box for like $500.
I used to own one, and I do miss it -- this was one of those last remnants of the original stock that I was surprised to see still for sale in the very late 90s, and I traded it away during a somewhat crunchy financial time years later. it's certainly something that would be nice to have again. But I know whatever new copy I do get, while being a representation of good ol' Thunderclash, won't have that story behind it, and so I haven't really put much effort into getting it again.
I also know that dropping that kind of money is insane right now, especially on something that is likely to be ~30% variously broken and crumbled gold parts, so I was content to just
my way out of there.
I am also marveling at that gorgeous Unicron. I've seen some for a surprisingly decent price over the years, but international shipping is always the killer. And since I stumbled upon someone selling just that Earth-colored Dead End a long time ago, I at least have some representation of it. But wow, what a cool look. Especially that bright green wash and greeble printing.

i've had super ginrai in his box since 2024 in a box in my den...i took him out last night for the first time to mess with him again
i've no idea if it's because of the 'he hasn't been transformed since 2024' or the 'this mold is from 2016 (2015 if you count the original CW ultra magnus version)' part but he is so goddamn creaky. like in a level beyond the normal jankiness i know and expect from this mold and my specific copy of it lol. like a lot of the joints just feel off in a way compared to what we get nowadays y'know just in terms of how they feel to move them for some reason idk why. maybe i've been spoiled by the quality of all the current stuff.
