The Hills had been living in Saudi Arabia.

Bullshit, Hank Rutherford Hill would never move out of the United States of America.

Unless Buck told him to, of course.

Saudi Arabia is like the #1 producer of Propane and he's said to have been on an Aramco base, which is basically the most idealized American white picket fence society you can get.

Aside from all the women being required by law to wear burqas, I suppose.

Honestly, that sounds like it would have made for a more interesting new direction to take the show, rather than something that gets brought up as part of their backstory and then never mentioned again. To quote Ben Croshaw for the second time just this afternoon, "Is this the most interesting moment in your character's life? If not, why aren't you telling that story?"

In the first case, that sounds like an improvement where Peggy's concerned :p

In the second: Becuase 1. That's require abandoning all the other characters the series is known for. 2. The series is in part about Hank's sorta 'culture shock' of how much the USA has changed over the years. 3. KOTH has never been about "the most interesting moment" in anyone's stories. Its mostly about exploring suburban life, and in this case how that life has changed from what it used to be to what it is now. 4. Considering that one of the new characters is "Muhammad", likely the new guy seen in this opening, the backstory probably isn't "never mentioned again" and another thing KOTH didn't shy away from was flashbacks to the characters' past.

One thing is for sure. Peggy will 100% come back swearing that she is now fluent in Arabic.

Cautiously optimistic for this one. I love King of the Hill, so hopefully the new shows are the same quality as the classics.
