Generations 2027: No More Primes! It is the Age of Evolution!

There's not a lot for me here. But there's Thunderwing and I'd trade all rest of the years toys for a good new Pretender Thunderwing. ZacWilliam, and from what we can see it looks like a good non-Titan Scorponok too.

So I realized that I could also be looking at vintage ads. -ZacWilliam, Yeah that tracks

    1988 Minibot Equivalents

I mean they always are, SRP (Suggested Retail Price) is a thing for a reason though, even in the 80s. Given all the examples here are consistent, it seems very likely the Minibots were consistently $3-ish in the US. I couldn't find as many pics of Throttlebot cards with price tags online.

    1988 Minibot Equivalents

Actually a quick search of the Internet strongly suggests that's wrong. It looks like the Mini Cars ran like $2.50 to $3 -ZacWilliam, Which makes sense as the big Autobot cars seem to have been around $6ish

    1988 Minibot Equivalents

Folks who were around during G1. 1984 to 1986 we had the classic Autobot minicar/minivehicle assortments. 1987 we had the Throttlebots which while a different style were very clearly the minicar assortment equivalent toys for the year. Then there's 1988. I think the Sparkabots are definitely...

    Upcoming Live-Action Film Rumors

I know what I'd do. Have all the robots be the main characters, have personalities and character arcs and tell a story about them like a regular adventure movie, just all the characters are fun transforming robots. I'm not saying it would succeed, just what I'd do. -ZacWilliam, I like when...

    Takara Missing Link G1 Series

Ok. I'm about to super over-analyze something. You don't have to tell me. I know. I just find it fun. Sooo part of what Missing Link does is posit an alternate reality. "What if the original 1980s Transformers toys had been as fully poseable as we can make toys today?" "What if Arcee got a...

    Takara Missing Link G1 Series

Hmmm... I'm conflicted. Yay Headmaster Arcee... but it's the wrong kind of Headmaster. She was a Headmaster in 1987 alongside the 87 Large Headmaster characters, and this toy is clearly an 1988 style small Headmaster. The head guy isn't the type it should be. ZacWilliam, But still it's a G1 HM...

Generations 2027: No More Primes! It is the Age of Evolution!

I don't expect it from current Hasbro I just don't care about the new toys without it. I'll take it from takara or a video game or anything, but characters are why I care about Transformers more than any other robot toys out there. If they aren't characters, I dont need their toys...

Generations 2027: No More Primes! It is the Age of Evolution!

Eh. I don't like this much. I'm just not a fan of "Good Guys gone bad" alternates at all (let good guys be good) nor am I into more versions of the same cuts (Mirage, Astrotrain) that we get all the time instead of characters from the 80s who have not had good modern figures. This mostly sounds...

A Long Time Ago In a Galaxy Far, Far Away.... - Star Wars General Discussion

Yes a fair number of Jedi survived the Purge, but "a fair number" in a "Filling a small conference room at the Holiday Inn" sense. In a Huge Galaxy run by the Empire and under constant threat from Vader and the Inquisitors it's still a very small number really and completely scattered, in...

A Long Time Ago In a Galaxy Far, Far Away.... - Star Wars General Discussion

It absolutely is. It has gorgeous cinematography on par with, sometimes surpassing, Empire easy, and it is frankly the smartest Star Wars film, purposely interrogating the franchise's tropes taking each in the opposite direction of expectations to show another side of things all while remaining...

A Long Time Ago In a Galaxy Far, Far Away.... - Star Wars General Discussion

The Prequels are neat looking, have some good ideas, and nostalgia. Phantom Menace is kinda fun, although I'm not sure how much of that fun is my nostalgia. On the whole though I think they're all not great films. Watchable. Ok. But not great. The sequels are better. The Force Awakens is a...

    RIP Peter Cullen

I was thinking just yesterday that if you're not careful to meet new people, get into new experiences and new things part of growing old is all the people and things you love slowly going away until one day you realize there's just nothing much left you are staying for. ZacWilliam, it's been...

    Disney animation and related media

If it's like most anime with unfinished source material it'll just tie off the last completed story arc and maybe have a montage of all the characters and then be done with little care about the main plot being incomplete. -ZacWilliam, can count how many anime's I've seen do that in the last 30...

He-Man, and also the Masters of the Universe

No, since they came out after the film there's nothing precursive about it. I'm sure it's because of the film, certainly because echoing the film for kids and taping into the new audience is obviously the whole point of these. ZacWilliam, they're fun little mini eps

    X-Men '97 - continuation of 1992 Animated Series

Honestly I thought Kane's death was fairly appropriate. He was in the Cartoon for exactly as long as he ever mattered in the Comic. -ZacWilliam, he's one of those that got a ToyBiz toy only because the toys came out so close to the comics that they had to assume everyone was gonna be important...

Marvel Cinematic Universe - General Thread

Honestly the Hype online had me expecting more. I was a little let down. Ghost Rider was the only really new, new thing it felt like. -ZacWilliam, the news we got was fine, just brief. I can't imagine the folks who waited in line days to be there for like 30 minutes and 3 announcements.

    Marvel Toy Thread

Vision is the one I want, because it's "Vision in the body of the evil Gatherers Vision" or if you choose just an Evil Gatherer Vision. Which makes it the first Gatherer toy ever. -ZacWilliam, as Proctor isnt super likely to get a figure too soon I'll take it
