That decision was probably made by a bean counter who had no earthly idea what the product actually was or who it was for. It was just another price on a spreadsheet, and it looked a little high.
There is a real utility to this openness. Sometimes we ask about a potential character, and the answer we get is "We want to! We just haven't figured out the best way to handle this and that. Let us know what you think." Like with Pretenders. It is not obvious what's the best way to handle...
People will compare it to DLC, but it's not the same. I'm not aware of a DLC expansion that's so seamlessly plug-and-play ready, and also unplug-and-play ready. It's two games that just do their thing. Attach them and they just do a different thing. Separate them again and they just do their...
It's crazy how that Sonic & Knuckles cartridge didn't start a trend. It was such a cool concept and seemed to work perfectly, and the whole industry just shrugged.
I still want New Rodimus as a combining upgrade for Star Convoy.
Come on, Takara. If you can't make Brave toys anymore due to rights issues then do something with the designs you have. You're the only company that's good at it!
*raises hand*
That was me. Universe was a huge deal to me. Up til then I assumed that if I missed out on some mold, that was it and I just missed out forever. eBay was a thing but I didn't trust it yet. There was so much FUD about eBay back then. I did try it in 2004 and never looked back, but...
I still deeply regret not getting Robot Masters Victory Saber before it became insanely expensive. It's weird how that line is so expensive while it otherwise seems to be so under appreciated.
They seem to be. I didn't notice any glitches with my copy. Others seem to have a copy that's bugged to hell and back. The one thing that unites them all is that damned frog won't bite the hugging lure.
This team's been wise to do this on the neutral turf of Instagram instead of picking a forum. As much as I'd love to have them here, I get why that didn't work out for Orson's World and why it wouldn't work out now.
We have a newsletter from BigBadToyStore.

That's why we still use the Behind the Scenes label. Even when we don't see prototypes or CAD or design sketches they still sometimes casually drop "We're thinking about this" information that used to be treated as top secret.
Combiner Wars Optimus Prime has some details that make me think it was either a stepping stone towards the Evergreen design or they're both forks of some earlier design sketch.
I smell burning.
I don't think it's the smell of burned toast. It smells more like a scented log. It smells great, actually. But it's 1:40 at night and it feels like 86 outside. Who would be using their fireplace right now?
It's a shame this is what the Evergreen designs get. I don't like them. Never did. They're off-putting to me in some weird way I can't describe. But they've lasted a long time now. They're a genuine pillar of the brand at this point. For their longevity alone, they deserve better than this.
