It made sense when Studio Series was focused on movie figures. Once they started dropping '86 and Gamer Edition and all that into the line it has made a lot less sense.

I think it's an age thing. Gimmicks appeal to younger audiences, articulation appeals to older ones, and the older kid market for toys has been steadily drying up for the last 30 years, being replaced with the adult market.
