For some reason, my Walmart randomly had like 6 of the Retro Bombshell and Ramhorn anime-deco reissues from 2024 in the clearance aisle for $25.

Anyway who'll win: Guy who can't even point his gun forward and the world's flattest rhinoceros VS two guys who can actually point their guns forward

Hound may not be able to do much with his gun, but his missile launcher, in addition to all the missiles Ramhorn is packing, make me like their odds.

Oh, not to mention what Ramhorn can do by living up to his name...

All that aside, I'm jealous of that find! More for Ramhorn than Bombshell, but the more, the merrier -- especially at that price!

I love the series above-

"Optimus Prime: Age of Evolution"
"Somehow, Hot Shot Returned"
"I'm not a mess of breakable clear plastic!"

-and we know which of these themes Hasbro will NOT use next...

TR had a lot of great figures (aside from the three beast Cons who keep self-destructing), but I feel like a lot of them, like Topspin and Triggerhappy, are great despite the Headmaster gimmick rather than because of it.

On the other hand, the line also finally gave me an updated Sixshot, so I can't hate it.

i'm not saying they're bad figures but it's so funny how simplified transformations had become that people praised topspin and triggerhappy for their 'complex transformations' and then you look at them now and they're still fun but it's like...that's it? some rotation?

It's a pretty good glow-up from Jumpstarting.

In any case, it's a bunch of little things. You might say a lot of rotations and turns. The entire bottom half swiveling around to become the back half, the torso also having a turn so the cockpits are on the back, the way the arms fold up and tuck in. It's a pretty nice execution of an otherwise nondescript robot mode that gives it a more defined vehicle mode design and takes the opportunity to design it from the ground up rather than just ape the "fold em in half" and maybe add a few extra panels and steps.

The whole thing ends up very clean, very dense, and not gappy at all. It definitely shows the easing-into of engineering and design that tends to come with being later in the line, and along with the Decepticon Targetmaster jet base mold are marked contrasts from fellow Deluxes like Blurr and Chromedome much earlier in the line. I'd argue it clears the complexity bar they set: while they DO all have the "turn waist, fold up legs, lower half of body becomes back of the vehicle" element going on, the Jumpstarters also have some work to be done for the front half, where Blurr and Chromedome just have finished bits to lock into place. "Complex" is relative -- as you say, the transformation complexity bar had been lowered a fair bit -- but I think something that pushing complexity while not cannibalizing playability (so many of the 2000s releases) is a feat unto itself.

Or maybe "complex" conjures up unnecessarily specific expectations, sure. Instead of that, I would say the design is very satisfying as a transforming toy. I have no regrets buying the red/dark blue decos despite having the originals, and I still want to see the yellow/black Robot-Man Z (Estrela) and the red/yellow Salt-Man X (Antex). They wouldn't match in terms of original release companies, I guess, but the Estrela Topspin redecos just change one color (to red or green) and keep the white base. Plus this way the yellow torsos would be a nice matching element between the two.

So back in 2018 I had to purge a lot of my MOSC/MISB figures, and sadly Power of the Primes Predaking was included in that. Well, I finally was able to bring him back into the collection.
