The model sheet strikes again! Hasbro didn’t paint the back of Boxset Ironhide’s window because they wanted to save .0001 cents.

Luckily for them that also matches the toy and model sheet…

I seem to remember Dreamwave having a contest once for fanart of Megatron combiners, and I think that was one of the entries. But I'd have to dig out the original single issues to check, and I'm way too lazy. (And also typing this from the restroom at work, but that's neither here nor there.) It would explain why Prime looks very Dreamwave down there, though.
That does indeed seem to be the case. This is by zhenderson on DeviantArt, and they recount the contest in the description of the piece.

To be totally accurate to the real vehicle, the rearmost looks-like-a-window (on the G1 and Generations toys; it wasn't window on the model sheet) area would be part of the third one...but there's blatantly a divider there. so saying it should be painted is saying he should have extra tiny windows back there.

I'm not sure Ironhide has ever had four windows (or large third windows, for that matter) on each side in any depiction ever.

What? The real life vehicle has three windows.

As did the original Studio release

That's what I said.

The G1 toy, however, looked like this, with an extra division in what would be the middle of that window. (I guess it's only the G1 toy that does, though? Even Missing Link doesn't.)

I guess I just incorrectly assumed the same was true of the new one?

I finally picked up Armada Sideways from Target last night after they finally put up their TFTM Endcap. Also got one of the blind packed bag clips to go with my Megatron one. I thought it was a Grimlock but it ended up being a Galvatron, which I think is fitting choice to have next to Megatron.

He was in robot mode on the shelf and one day the cockpit half was missing. Given how relatively far it went and the location of the break, it was probably due to the spring-loaded gimmick. I also noticed that the clear parts that were previously gummy are now stiff.
