Minor reveal for the last bit of Age of the Primes:
According to JtPrime, the “New Prime” counterpart to Machine Wars Starscream is reportedly a blue redeco of Onyx Prime. Which makes it a stealth Shockwave release as well!

I just hope he isn't named Cryotek Prime or something. That'd annoy me to no end, for what I hope are obvious reasons.

Honestly, that's more of a capsule idea. A good idea, great even, but definitely fits the more rambunctious ambitions of a capsule line.

As far as Joyride, I tried to fold down the front 'forks' on his back and that worked, but it isn't very elegant. I hope we get a better Joyride in the future.

Same, I'm just sad they didn't add the wings to the "blue and gold" guy (unsure of his name). Or add any transformation stuff to the "red and blue" guy, to make his modes more different (I've been making him squat in alt mode to make his legs look shorter, but there's only so much you can do with posing alone).

If "New Prime" is just blue Onyx then that's cool... I know a lot of people want it since that's IDW Onyx, but I'll be passing.

I always thought he looked a bit too much like Deathsaurus in that deco.

Leaders are far too pricey for me to buy a repaint unless it's an absolutely enormous improvement, and this sounds like a side grade at best.

I did skip the original and it seems like I might like these colors better. But it's still a Leader and that's pretty up there price wise, so it may still be no go until (or unless) the price drops.

That sentence makes me a bit sad.

Eh, I've already got like four G1 Shockwaves and at least four more highly G1esque ones. I don't really need another.

Yeah, new colors and whatever new tooling would have to be REALLY compelling at current retail pricing. As is, I’m still keeping my eye out for a Leader Razorclaw for around $30. And I skipped Tigerhawk for it!

Strong nostalgic attachment to Machine Wars Starscream, though. That’ll probably be one of my few purchases for the year.
