Generations 2027: No More Primes! It is the Age of Evolution!

Back when CW Devastator was still the hot new Devastator, the He Tell Me gang reported that it had Build Team + Double Targetmasters alternate heads, so the idea has at least occurred to someone who was at Hasbro or Takara at some point and memory might have persisted.
The legend exists:

Granted, ISTR they also reported that this potential retool had solved the double dump truck problem and the two guys with the same name problem by giving the combiner a G1 Landfill head, which might be the most "pleases nobody" approach possible.
That one, however, was hearsay. The combined form would have been "Landfill" but there was no new headsculpt for it because the SDCC Devastator already used the pretooled alternate head that was toy-accurate vs. the mass retail Devastator head that was cartoon-accurate (the Unite Warriors head that could switch between both was a new tooling Takara initiated on their own). So, the Landfill version would have just used either of the Hasbro Devastator heads.

There was an interview where Evan strongly hinted at the double targetmasters being baked into the Constructicon tooling. Guess we shall see.

Scoop is an IDW reference to the time Starscream forced him into Devastator to try to control them (spoiler: it did not work). If they're planning to make a G1 Build King starting there, I just hope they tell us before the capsule disappears off the shelves.

The new Crossover will be with Adventure Time and Car Robots, where Build King is replaced by this new 6-member team combining into Build Thing, while his original team members become depressed and cynical, and one has a mental breakdown and starts claiming he's Grimlock of all things...

The weird thing is Build King himself I really loved, especially since I had the Car Robots original, I got the components all separately brand new at an anime con on a Sunday when the dealers room was doing their last minute selloffs, for ten bucks each. I almost never have that sort of luck.

Scoop made from Scrapper and still able to combine with Devastator is a IDW reference I never thought I'd see in toy form (or anywhere really).

I want Slash, but I just realized I never got the Studio Series Dinobots, so she'd be the largest of my G1 Dinbots and that'll be weird.
I just realized I'm assuming this is G1 PotP Slash, when it could be Age of Extinction, we don't know at the moment do we?

I doubt they would put Movieverse design toys in the non-Studio Series line (even ones that were originally toy-only and didn't appear in the films).

That's where they've been putting other offscreen movie characters. KSI Widow, BB Megatron and Frumble, etc. They've established that movie concept characters are still movie characters and go in the line created for movie characters.

Anyway, assuming it is PotP Slash, I'd love to see Skar and a G1 Scorn follow.

I always wished they had named the ankylosaur Slam, it's a way more fitting name.

So, I'm very curious about the rumors I've been seeing about all the Megatrons in this line having some sort of combination. What could it be? I mean, I know what I'd LOVE to see, but I can't imagine it would ever happen.

Go back to the days of RiD 2001 for a moment. We had G1 Megatron, who turned into a gun. RiD Megatron and Galvatron turned into hands, with there being a rumor I saw at the time about the misassembly of his tail being something intentional on Galvatron to make it a left hand. (My Galvatron was so misassembled, so it really stood out to me.) BM Megatron got a new toy during RiD that turned into a head.

Combiners have been my favorite TF gimmick ever since Devastator showed up, so of course I imagined a gigantic combiner made up of many Megatrons. With the head and hands taken care of, other versions could be made into something like an arm or a foot relatively easily. Of course, obviously none of the toys were scaled with each other, so I never had any delusion it was something that would happen, but I was entranced by the possibility.

I still can't see anything like that happening here, but it's definitely coloring my perceptions. I really want to find out what it's all about! May be something as uninteresting as the AotP Conduit, and at worst could compromise a bunch of toys I really wouldn't want to be compromised. But one way or another, I really want to know!

If Hasbro has multiple of these “buildizers” like Collapse, maybe the Megatron combiner will be minimally compromised figures that use the assorted pegs, some added accessories, and “Buildizers” to assemble a combiner OF SORTS.

Also, reportedly from JtPrime is that there is a toy-deco’d Superion boxset in the works. Guess that’s how you all are getting the extra frame for your Nexus Primes :p

Personally, I'm hoping this is a Wedge pretool, and we're on deck to get a fully "buildizer'd" Build King.

Someone at TFW2005 posted the Dino Megazord in tank mode, and that’s more what I’m thinking:
Some sort of massive battle platform abomination rather than a combined “robot” mode. Can’t even get a clear idea until we know the details of at least one more Megatron (or Galvatron?) from the line. And the problem there is…there are a LOT of Megatron to pull from.

If we can’t get Beast Machines Megatron (either form), since we’re already getting the Transmetal, my picks are either a stealth bomber (G2 ATB and IDW) or a VTOL (Animated and Earthspark). I find it unlikely to see another tank Megatron with G2 already on deck, and I’m not sure marketing would necessarily be all in on a car (G2 GoBots, Choro-Q, Alternity).
If the design team is feeling spicy, Super Megatron (with future Energon MegGalvatron retool?) or Cybertron Megatron would add a nice bit of contrast to the known alt modes of mecha-Dino, tank, and fighter jet. Though the fighter jet might be a mark against another aircraft?

Again, too many options, not enough hard info.

I seem to remember Dreamwave having a contest once for fanart of Megatron combiners, and I think that was one of the entries. But I'd have to dig out the original single issues to check, and I'm way too lazy. (And also typing this from the restroom at work, but that's neither here nor there.) It would explain why Prime looks very Dreamwave down there, though.
