This is going to be another of those moments when people learn that in many continuities, nuking Godzilla is REALLY counterproductive, isn't it...?

The flying rocks bit looks...interesting. Either some kaiju has got some pretty fantastic powers compared to the previous movie, or I'm wondering if some of these scenes are from PTSD nightmares? No reason to assume Shikishima quit having nightmares just because they "killed" Godzilla.

Actually, how many continuities have dropped an actual nuclear warhead on Godzilla? Sure, his usual origin is that he was created by nuclear detonations, but that's not the same thing as surviving a nuke to the face.

I don't recall it coming up in most movie series, the Heisei series treated it a possibility but never being desperate enough to try, while Legendary used it as a power boost.

Mind you, Minus Zero is leaning hard into the "Godzilla as allegory" area, so hitting that one with a nuclear warhead would still make things worse even if it did kill him.

There are so many options now, compared to when I was a kid. I found the giant $20 Playmates ones to be great for a casual shelf and also nearly indestructible when my nephew decides to have Godzilla 'return to the sea' in a bathtub or something. If you want more detailed, posable ones you still have your pick. I'd just get whatever size/sort you happen to like best. There aren't any 'wrong' ones. Heck, Super7 made smaller versions of the old Super Cyborg sorts and a few of the colors are on sale on BBTS.

Thinking about picking up a Godzilla figure for the shelf, probably around $50. Any specific recommendations?
Yeah, BBTS is currently running a sale on Godzilla products, so you might check there for anything that hits all the right notes for you.

Otherwise, the first question is which Godzilla you want on your shelf; there have been quite a few, sometimes wildly different designs. After that, it's mostly a question of size and of course budget.
Under $50, there's Bandai Movie Monster Series vinyl figures, and posable figures (don't remember the name). Super7 has ReAction 4-inch Godzilla, a mid-size range around 5-inches that is carried at many Targets, and Ultimates are around $50 on sale. Playmates has a lot of Legendary Godzilla figures in a range of sizes and prices.

Currently leaning towards this.
