I don't want to hear anything about Leto unless it's that he's turned over a new leaf or is hanging it up.

But...what about his Skeletor?

:p

In the midst of new movie hype, Mattel has dropped preorders for the Battle for Sub-ternia troop pack and the Origins Slime Pit. And...YES! The Slime Pit DOES come with a can of slime! Just enough to ruin one $20 Origins figure...

Edit: More new stuff! Official images have come out for the first wave of the relaunched Masters of the WWE, which will be Walmart exclusive in the US

Images have also leaked of Sketchbook Skeletor, presumably coming around the same time as Sketchbook Man At Arms

Wave 2?! I haven’t even seen wave ONE!

Wave 2 is being revealed as Battle Armor He-Man and Skeletor joined by Trap Jaw and another, unrevealed, character. I’m betting a Hero of some sort, going by Wave 1’s load out.

It’s really seeming like these are Walmart exclusive in the US. So..y’know… hug Walmart and their crap distribution.

The steady stream of leaks continues, this time for a couple of Origins releases:
First off is the leak of a deluxe Skel-knight, sporting numerous customization options and weapons. I think this looks a touch better than the Core figure just because of the better defined detail relative to the Core figure’s handful of spray applications.

Leaked from an overseas retailers is an Origins 2 pack featuring Ram Man and Moss Man. Were it not for a featurette from Amazon, this would have been Moss Man’s “big reveal”. Like Spikor, this is the only toy of the character known for release.

Reminder that 2026 Film Origins figures are “scattered exclusives” in the US, with different retailers each getting different products.

...even Team Whirl.

Saw this at Walmart. Didn't look inside, but the cover made me laugh:

I’m still on a MOTU kick and dragging you all with me!

Origins Film Skeletor has leaked. Probably a wavemate for the upcoming Origins film Teela.

In addition, after being mentioned in a ToyBook article about MOTU, more details have come out about the upcoming MOTU animated series:
Subtitled “Tales from Eternia”, it will be launching on June 10th, just DAYS after the feature film’s debut weekend, on YouTube. With animation from Snipple Animation (who has worked all over the industry, but maybe most notable for work on Phineas and Ferb, Teen Titans Go, and Ducktales (2017), Mattel has seemingly posted something of a sneak peak on the Mattel Adventures YouTube page. The series will reportedly run 20 episodes.

Absolutely everything I know about Leto...

Requiem For a Dream
Didn't know who Leto was at the time. Pretty good movie in that really artistic way that's also thoroughly unpleasant to watch, so I only watched it once.

Suicide Squad.
Horrible movie, but it's it's hard to but the blame entirely on Leto because that was a horrible movie all around. However, I heard of some "alleged " backstage (biologically hazardous) antics that got him permanently labeled 'creep' in my book.

Morbius
Tanked simply for having him in it.

Tron
Tanked just for having him in it.

Now
I hear he's recently been in some reputation ruining legal trouble. I don't know specifics and I'm afraid to ask.

All that to say, there may be good reason he's been restricted from public speaking.

Later post after a Target visit...I caved and got this.

And out of the packaging alongside an Origin's counterpart:

It's slightly smaller than Origins. There's no shield. The boots don't show the three-toed monster foot of the original.

But dang! The design, the texturing, the upscale on the nightmare-fuel. I like it.

Again, waiting until later in the year to explore my options. The basic figures is damned fine...but the 4 pack has a soft goods cape and will probably be put on sale this fall. There's at least one more basic version due (seemingly with translucent elements), and I suspect at LEAST another in the main line by the end next spring. There's the deluxe version which may see another variation before next spring. And who knows what kind of exclusive or gift packs that might crop up.

Then there's the Chronicles version which has all the amazing detail...plus extra detail and articulation. Including an articulated jaw! But I suspect I'll be able to get the Core 4 pack for close to the same price this fall...

UK internet retailer In Demand Toys has a pair of official images for MOTU Core Wave 3, featuring the single card debut of Man At Arms and "Mudfighter" He-Man. It remains to be seen how the actual figures will look. Toy Habits previously posted "in hand packaged" images that appears to show some more notable variations from the promo images, so we'll have to wait and see. The deluxe Trap Jaw figure showed that the promo images and final product can vary greatly.

The most entertaining thing Leto's been associated with was that time he took a year-long media-free sabbatical in mid-2019.

In mid-2020 he came out of seclusion and thought he'd wandered into the apocalypse.

That same link says it's based on the unproduced sequel to the 80s movie.
Toy Habits has the propensity to…reach…for things. They also feel a bit more insulated to the broader industry, so stuff I, and many others, chalk up to typical retail MO, comes across as strange decisions to the people running the site.

If anything, I think this might be a “dream sequence” inspired toy (Itself maybe inspired by the unproduced sequel given the current production team’s willingness to embrace the franchise as a whole).

Context:
For those not familiar- Despite the critical and commercial underperformance of the original Masters of the Universe film, Cannon Group still planned to move forward with a sequel while they still had the license. In typical Cannon fashion, the budget was even smaller than the first, so the film would have detailed He-Man’s search for Skeletor on Earth, where Skeletor hides out as a yuppie executive. Cannon lost the license before filming started, and many of the props and sets were recycled with material made for the unproduced Spider-Man film for the film, Cyborg.

Word about the webs is that Masters of the Universe might yet get a few IMAX screenings, reportedly as a result of softer attendance with Mandalorian and Grogu. As typical, YMMV on that regard.
Some minor tidbits-
Wave 2 Mighty Masters’ final figure was discovered to be Fisto. So the wave is BA He-Man and Skeletor, Trap Jaw and Fisto
Next wave of 200x Cartoon Collection is expected to be Sorceress, Sy-Klone, and Trap Jaw, joined by Man-E-Faces in the deluxe slot.

And another reason to hold off on FOMO for the MOTU toys? Apparently there are running changes afoot! I had heard about the Chronicles He-Man having a manufacturing variant where the cross armor insert was apparently more opaque than the more gem-like translucent that seems to be intended.
Now there seems to be a Chronicles Skeletor which shows a LOT of noticeable changes:
The Body is more blue. Depending on how Mattel is accomplishing the look of Skeletor’s muscles, this is either a change to the overspray color/density or changes to the base plastic color. The newer version looks more in line with the color tone of the Core figure.
The most significant is changes to the head sculpt, seemingly correcting a mold error where the back quarter of the upper jaw wasn’t present. I really didn’t notice (probably because it evoked that classic Skeletor look), but it’s obvious once you see it. The available photography makes me think MAYBE the hood is a touch darker, but that’s probably a lighting thing.
