The least fun part was finding two pictures of Tow-Line that agree on his colors. 2004 digital cameras were wonky.
Concur. I actually enjoy seeing how more-modern designs and color schemes translate back to simpler G1 toys.
Could definitely get behind Grimsmoke there. Especially if done in silver and gold, not just grey...
Probably even less fun, but what about the RiD01 Spychanger Ironhide deco on the G1 figure?
Inspired by the little guy that comes with Nemesis Star Convoy, how about Energon Six Shot colors on G1 Shockwave?
Reminds me a bit of Alternators Grimlock
Or better yet, the decos of G2 Go-Bots Optimus Prime, Firecracker, Sideswipe, and RID01 R.E.V. on the G1 Sideswipe mold.

Armada designs have been severely underrepresented in the Legend/Legion/Core scale, and a PCC redeco would scale fairly well with those. I would back a redeco like that 100%!
There's no way to just swap the plastic colors. It would need generous paint.
Homage or no, that's a pretty slick scheme. Shame about the mold's extend-o-neck proportions though, that's not the colors' fault.
This batch of designs would benefit from a redo as regular Deluxes. The gimmick would almost certainly have to go, but it's a lesser loss than most gutted gimmicks in remakes. (By this I mean the combining. I'd miss the Mini-Con partners.)
I would have bought every single PCC if it weren't for the durability issues. They did enough for the price that I can't complain about any of the designs. It's just the materials that let them down. Take out the springs and make them out of real plastic instead of whatever it is they used and I'm in for any redos.
I'll never stop singing the praises of Power Core Combiners. The designs all had so much character and the play pattern was fun. Would absolutely love to see updated versions of them. Sell me a large Deluxe/small Voyager core bot with a set of 4 NON spring-loaded limbs in a Leader class box and I'd buy the hell out of all of them.
