Well, I just started it, so I don't want spoilers at the moment. But I'm having more fun with it than I thought I would. About the closest thing I've played to it has been Dragon Quest Builders, but this seems a bit more low key...as in...in the few hours I've played it tonight, there hasn't been anything trying to kill me...which I appreciate. I've just been gathering resources and building. Pretty fun so far!
The DQ Builders games were a lot of fun. I've found some of the notes hinting to the story in Pokopia, but nowhere near done. This game makes me feel like I most definitely have ADHD. I try to do one task, a Pokemon wants to talk to me. Oh hey, there's a shiny block over there. Ooh, that grass is shaking! Etc etc until I completely forget what I was originally doing.
Welp, I completed all the main quests and got to the credits in Pokopia.
I haven't gotten all the hidden journals and such, but I read the other spoiler info. I don't think the Team Rocket grunt was in the rocket, when you encounter the rocket they say the messages are pre-recorded. Plus, one of the other journals mentions that all the Team Rocket guys were arrested.
During the credits, we're given a bit of hope as the rocket reaches a space station and someone in a space suit sees the picture you sent up. Got a little misty eyed.
There's still gates that are blocked. I also found out what the mysterious blocks are for. However, I'm feeling a bit lost w/out any major specific tasks. Everything feels like it came to a screeching halt. I don't have any specific ideas on what to build. Not sure if I feel like trying for 100% completion. Maybe at least the Pokedex since there's apparently a hidden small area/goodies if you do that.
This was a funny thing. I was trying to make a sand sculpture of any of the Winds and Waves starter Pokemon at a beach. I wanted to do Pombon but he was too hard.
I was only able to do a sort of passable Browt because of the leaves (and even then i got it upsidedown, plus wouldn't on). I was making a video of it all and in the last one, a random dog came over and killed my Browt, dang it! Haha
Fire beats grass, indeed! I think the puppy just wanted attention.
In other news, apparently, there's going to be a update for Home tomorrow that will give us compatibility with Legends Z-A and Champions! Finally! I can give myself some breathing room in my boxes, again!
Also, there's a special event for Pokopia today where you can get a Sudowoodo Inflatable Waving Tube. Now you can finally create the used car lot of your dreams! Only available for...less than 24 hours at this point, now. So get on down to CRAZY DITTO'S before they're gone, gone, GONE!
They didn't add any new Pokemon into Legends Z-A, no. But if you deposit any Pokemon from Legends Z-A into Home, you should get Alpha Totodile, Tepig, and Chikorita in Home.
Although, they haven't announced what the Pokedex Completion Reward is for Legends Z-A in Home, yet. Which I'm a little surprised by. Why wait to reveal something like that?
I'll admit, I kind of thought we'd get...something else for Legends Z-A. It feels weird to just end things with Mega Garchomp Z. Especially given how bland that specific event was, just being a battle with no lore or fanfare. I was at least hoping they'd adjust the Hyper Berry drop rate, just to make things less of a slog. But, nope, I guess this is the end of the game. There's plenty of content. But, I can't help but feel like the game feels...oddly incomplete. I'm still cleaning up some of the post-game stuff, after finally catching Rayquaza.
Also, a small rant:
....I despise the Berry/Donut system with all of my heart. It's a gacha-game mechanic where you can't even spend real money to alleviate the pain. No one benefits from this, which somehow makes it even worse! It's suffering for it's own sake! I really don't think Gamefreak understands how to make a game "challenging" without also making it a painful grindy chore! The DLC, while giving you a lot of content and new Pokemon, also makes the actual gameplay actively WORSE! There are so many ways they could have made this slightly better, but they just DIDN'T!
Legends Z-A is overall...fine. But, it actually feels like a step backwards in some ways compared to Legends Arceus. Just a little undercooked in some areas. It feels like it needed few tweaks to really be great.
If you complete ALL the Legends Z-A Pokedexes in Home, you can now receive a Shiny Volcanion!
That includes the Mega Dex, so I think that means you have to have the online-battle exclusive Mega Stones in your inventory, too. Those really aren't too bad to get, since you only have to get up to Rank S to get all of them, but you do need NSO.
It's a little weird they didn't just drop this when they made Z-A compatible with Home in the first place. Why the wait? Also, Volcanion's a funny choice, since he doesn't really get much in this game. (Not even a proper "arena".) I was half expecting Shiny Hoopa. But, a Shiny-locked mythical is a Shiny-locked mythical, I guess.
So, I guess this means Z-A is officially done. I was kind of halfway expecting a little something more. I feel like there were a few plot points that they never really followed up on.
Like, they explicitly set up the idea that dead people can show up in Hyperspace with that wedding ring sidequest. So, that means Taunie/Urbain COULD have met their mom for one final time in Hyperspace, just to wrap up that little plot thread in a nice little bow. Just like how they met AZ again after his death. But, maybe Gamefreak thought that would be too sad for the kids playing the game? I don't know.
Plus, again, we get 3 Vivillion forms in this game. But, none of the others? I guess the Marine-pattern one you cam get from the museum sidequest was just a hint about Winds and Waves?
Plus, they TEASED us about that Ghost Girl multiple times in this game. So, I thought maybe they'd actually have us meet her again. But, nope! Unless... was supposed to be Marshadow?
And we NEVER find anything more about Looker. Which just feels odd, with his old Detective Agency being a plot point. Not even a hint about him being stuck in another dimension or something. It feels like we should have at least gotten a clue, somewhere.
Plus, the entire game, they keep hinting that the Rogue Megas are still connecting to SOMETHING that allows them to Mega Evolve. I kind of figured they were going to eventually reveal the "Source Pokemon" for Mega Evolution officially. (Probably Deoxys, in my mind.) And all these strong Pokemon seemed to be gathering in Lumiose for one big final battle. But, nope.
But, Mission 200 DID wrap things up pretty nicely, on a emotional level. Everyone gets to follow their dreams and meet back up at night at the Hotel. So, I'm not really that disappointed. But, it feels like this game could have used ONE more big, final EX Mission to really put the cherry on top of things. Oh well.
